Box Robert Cutler, Director PO Box th Parallel Road Work The entire length of 45th Parallel Drive will be resurfaced with asphalt fabric and a 2.5 overlay sometime in September. The Board of Directors approved the bid by Valley Paving and a mill wedge machine has already cut transitions into the surface ends. During the resurfacing, the road traffic will be limited to a single lane for 1-2 days. Property Clearing Since the 2005 Fire Hazard Reduction Grant and clearing work, a number of lots have become once again overgrown and are presenting a potential fire hazard problem for the subdivision. Lot owners must be aware of the condition of their lot and take appropriate actions to mitigate hazards. MCPOA wishes to thank those that have cleared their lots this summer. 2 Meadowcreek Property Owners Association Outdoor Fire Pit Requirements The increased popularity of outdoor fire pits prompted the Meadowcreek Property Owners Association (POA) Board of Directors (Board) to establish requirements for these fire pits so as to differentiate them from open burning, which is expressly restricted in the MeadowCreek Protective Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CCRs). Fires contained within outdoor fire pits which are designed, constructed and operated in accordance with the following requirements are hereby deemed to be properly contained fires and therefore exempt from the open burning restrictions contained in the Meadowcreek Covenants. Neither the Meadowcreek POA nor the Board assumes any liability for damage, loss, or injury resulting from fires in approved or unapproved outdoor fire pits. The following requirements are designed to ensure that outdoor fire pits fit within the natural beauty of Meadowcreek, provide adequate protection against fire escape, and are operated in a safe and courteous manner. Design, Approval and Construction Requirements 1. All POA Members wishing to construct fire pits after the approval date for these requirements must submit fire pit plans to the Design Review Committee and obtain written approval from said committee before construction. 2. The burn box portion of the fire pit, defined as that area where wood is to be burned, must be a minimum of 15 feet from any flammable structure or material, including trees or other vegetation greater than 2 feet high. 3. The burn box portion of the fire pit must be a minimum of 12 inches below grade or surrounded by a 12 inch high continuous barrier made of metal, brick or stone. No flammable material may be used in the construction of the box. 4. The area within a 5 foot radius from the center of the burn box must be completely covered with nonflammable material, such as brick, tile, rock, gravel or mineral soil. 5. Any permanent seating within the 5 foot radius described above must be made of non-flammable materials. 6. The burn box may be no larger than 36 inches in diameter, or in the case of a square or rectangular design, no longer than 32 inches on any side. 7. Overhanging vegetation must be maintained at a minimum of 20 feet from the bottom of the burn box. Fire Pit Operation requirements 1. Fires in outdoor fire pits are not permitted during periods of time when the fire danger rating, as posted outside the U.S. Forest Service New Meadows Ranger Station, is Very High or Extreme or any time an Emergency Closure is posted, by any Local, County, State, or Federal fire management agency, for the local area. Furthermore, and regardless of posted fire danger rating, each POA member is responsible for ensuring that weather conditions are suitable for creating and maintaining and open fire safely. 2. Any fire must be continuously attended and supervised by an adult until the fire is completely extinguished. 3. A connected garden hose or operable fire extinguisher and a shovel must be within 20 feet of the burning fire pit. 4. Only natural wood or pressed fireplace logs may be burned in outdoor fire pits. No painted, treated, or engineered wood may be burned at any time. No trash of any kind may be burned, including cigarette butts. 5. No wood may protrude outside the burn box at any time during burning. 6. No accelerants, such as gasoline, kerosene, lighter fluid or liquid camp stove fuel, may be used to start or stoke fire. 7. Smoke from fires must not create a nuisance for neighbors or any Meadowcreek residents. 8. At any time, a Board Member or duly authorized representative may require that a fire pit fire be extinguished immediately if they determine that it is an escape risk or a nuisance to other property owners. Penalties for Non-Compliance 1. Failure to comply with any of these requirements, or direction from a Board Member or duly authorized representative to immediately extinguish a fire, may result in an outdoor fire pit fire being deemed to constitute open burning and fines provided for in the Covenants may be levied by the Board.

5 St. Luke s Children s Fundraiser The I Golf for ipads for the children in residence at St. Luke's Children's Hospital online silent auction is up and running!
