These attractive hearth rugs are intended to be used in front of wood burning fireplaces to protect the carpet or wood flooring from escaping embers that might come from the roaring fire. All Goods of the Woods hearth rugs are produced in half round shapes, except for the Guardian collection in rectangular design. Level One: Guardian rugs in Fiberglass provide maximum protection of any hearth rugs available. Level Two: Ember, Creekside and Andiron collections in Wool provide the next level of protection. Wool is self-extinguishing, and char spots may often be rubbed out leaving little visible damage. Level Three: Nylon offers the next level of protection, in Safari and Classic styles. Embers may produce small melt spots on nylon rugs. Level Four: The other stylish collections made of synthetic fibers perform similar to nylon but have slightly lower melt temperatures.
