4 BENCRYL & BENCRYL-RAPID Braided & Coated Polyglycolic Acid Suture Material: Braided & Coated Polyglycolic Acid (Absorbable Surgical Suture USP) Raw Material : Polyglycolic Acid is a synthetic polymer composed of homopolymers of Glycolide (100%). Coating: Calcium Stearate & Polycaprolactone Material Color & Specifications: Violet (D & C Violet No 2) and Undyed for Rapid sutures. Features: u Minimal tissue reaction and has excellent handling properties. u Coating ensures Smooth tissue passage. u Bencryl sutures retains 80% of the original strength at 2 weeks post implantation and % of the initial strength is lost at 4 weeks. Absorption is complete between 75- days. u Bencryl-Rapid sutures retain 50% of the original strength after 5 days post implantation & the strength will be lost completely after days. Absorption is essentially complete by 42 days.
