Hier sind die Besonderheiten der Reise: Die Reise wird bei einer Teilnehmerzahl von 10 Personen durchgeführt. Bei weniger Anmeldungen muss ich mich mit Dr. Madan Kataria absprechen. Anmeldeschluss ist der 05. November 2017 Ich habe das Programm auf Englisch gemacht, da ich denke, dass der eine oder andere Teilnehmende aus einem nicht Deutsch sprechenden Land kommt. Das ist auch der Grund, dass ich bei der Preisangabe nicht die Internationalen Flüge nach Bangalore berücksichtigt habe. Aus Deutschland fliegt Lufthansa jeden Tag Direkt von Frankfurt nach Bangalore. Falls jemand seinen Indienaufenthalt nach der Reise in einer anderen Gegend wie Nordindien oder mit einem Badeaufenthalt verlängern will, können wir dies auch organisieren. It was founded by Kempe Gowda, ruler under Vijayanagara Empire by laying the foundation of the city by building mud fort at the site in 1537 A scenic view of palace which bears striking resemblance to England s Windsor Castle, Bangalore Palace is a scenic tourist hotspot with a majestic castle-like structure set amidst lush green environs. The huge palace grounds are used for organizing various types of events and musical shows, most of which include rock concerts. The immaculately designed interiors of the palace filled with magnificent paintings and stained-glass windows. This is one of the most important structures in Bangalore is Vidhan Soudha - Parliament House. The 46-metre tall imposing building comprises 300 rooms, each of which reflects the impressive Dravidian style of architecture. Housing 22 departments of the Government of Karnataka, Vidhan Soudha also happens to be one of the one of the largest legislative buildings in India. After visit drive to Hassan, check in at Hotel Tu, Hassan /Shravanbelagola/ Hassan (55 Kms. /3 Hrs. After breakfast, excursion to visit Shravanabelagola, which is the oldest and most important pilgrimage center for Jain religion. Here is the site of the huge 17m high naked statue of Bahubali (Gomateswara), said to be the world s tallest monolithic statue. It overlooks the small town of Shravanabelagola from the top of the rocky, hill known as Indragiri. Its simplicity and serenity is in complete contrast to the complexity and energy of the sculptural work. The colossal monolithic statue is 58 ft high, naked, with 26 ft wide shoulders, 10-ft of its feet. It is nearly 1,800 years old, the statue which is reached by climbing 700 steps carved in the steep granite slope, is symbolic of the renunciation of worldly possessions.

We, Hassan / Coorg (185 Kms. / 6 Hrs) After breakfast, excursion to visit Belur and Halebid (60 Kms. around) Belur: Belur was once the capital of a powerful empire on the banks of important River of South India Yagachi. The main temple, is dedicated to Lord Krishna and set in a compound with several smaller temples and a pond, was commissioned by King in 1117 AD to celebrate Hoysala dynasty military victories. It took over a hundred years to complete and its architecture is foreign to the prevailing Hoysala style of the 12th century it is exceptionally large (about 100-ft high) and its decoration very lavish (with a magnificent gateway tower gopuram) in typical South Indian - Dravidian style. Located on the banks of river Yagachi, the Chennakeswara Temple is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. It took 103 years to complete and you can see why when you see it. The facade of the temple is filled with intricate sculptures friezes with no portion kept blank. The interior of the temple is even better and contains many exquisite panels and richly carved pillars. Halebid literally means the ruined city. During the 12th and 13th centuries AD, it flourished as the capital of the Hoysala Dynasty for about 150 years and was then known as Dwarasamudra (gateway to the seas). However, it was twice attacked by Muslim invaders who robbed it of its treasures, leaving behind the ruins of the once-magnificent Shiva temple. The walls of the temple are covered with an endless variety of gods, goddesses, animals, birds and dancing girls giving importance to the minutest details. Yet no two facets of the temple are the same. Two massive monolithic bulls guard the temple. Despite 86 years of hard work, the temple is not completely renovated. Afternoon drive to Coorg, on arrival check in at hote Th, Coorg After breakfast, visit of a Coffee plantation. The gorgeous landscape of Coorg is of rolling hills with acres of coffee plantations intermittently dotted with lush teakwood and sandalwood. It has a very moderate climate all year round, with temperatures ranging from 19 to 34 Grade C in summers to 14 to 29 C in winters. It altitude is in the range of 3500 ft above sea level. It is but natural that coffee and spice production are the major economic activities of the region. Its primary inhabitants are of the Kodava race and it is believed that they have descended from migrating Persians and Kurds. Another

5 theory says that they are Greeks left behind from Alexander the Great's armies. Afternoon excursion to Dubare Elephant Camp, enjoy Elephant Interaction session (Timing hrs) The Dubare Elephant Camp is a chance to get to know these giant, enchanting creatures better. With a host of activities built around this, many a guest has left the camp with a sense of responsibility to do their bit towards protecting elephants. Roll up your sleeves and pitch in for an elephant grooming session watching elephants being given a scrubbath in the river, with rituals like oil being applied to their forehead, tusks and the other aspects of elephant grooming will change your idea of pet maintenance. Fr Coorg/ Mysore (115 Kms. / 3 Hrs) After breakfast drive to Mysore, on arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon visit of Mysore Mysore is salubrious and charming city lies 770-m above sea level is an easy-going city famous for its silk and is also a thriving sandalwood and incense center. The city is steeped in history. The Mysore Palace, built in Indo - Saracenic style is one of the largest and most brilliant palaces in India. It's a kaleidoscope of stained glass, mirrors, gilt and colours. There are beautiful carved wooden doors, mosaic floors, as well as exquisite paintings. Halfway up the Chamundi Hill is the Nandi Bull, a 4.8 m monolith. It was carved out of solid rock and is one of the largest in India. Hordes of pilgrims come here throughout the year. Right on top, is the 2000-year-old Chamundeswari Temple. The temple provides atypical festive atmosphere without overwhelming religious overtures. St. Philomena's church: Built as a miniature reproduction of the Cologne Cathedral in 1930s, this is the largest church in Southern India. The church has white washed walls, high vaulted Gothic ceilings and color stained glass representations of different aspects from the life of Jesus. Sa, Mysore / Bandipur (80 Kms. / 2 Hrs) After breakfast drive to Bandipur, on arrival check in at hotel. Bandipur National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful and the better-managed national parks of India. Located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghat Mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park covers an area of about sq km. Together with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in the North, it creates the India's biggest biosphere reserve popularly known as the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'. The Bandipur National Park occupies a special place in India's efforts towards Eco-conservation. Bandipur also has a sizable number of Tigers. Other natural inhabitants of this lovely forest are gaur (a type of bull),

6 sambhar, chital, mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild dogs, wild boar, jackal, sloth bear, panther, malabar squirrel and porcupines. Afternoon enjoy coracle ride in the park. You will be taken on a traditional round shaped boat called a coracle. The design of the boat is unique to the rivers of southern India. Su, Bandipur Morning and Afternoon enjoy safari in the park by sharing Canter ride. Once the private hunting grounds of the maharaja, Bandipur is unapologetically wild terrain. Elephants roam in large herds, deer stare at you brazenly and peafowl flit in and out as they deem fit. Nestled at the foothills of the Nilgiris, Bandipur has had a long tryst with tigers. One of the thirty reserves identified across the country to save the tiger and its habita t, it s also one of the last refuges of the endangered Asiatic wild elephant. The sheer majesty of elephants so aware of their power, the enormity of the forest and its ancient secrets, the unblinking gaur that da res you to try stare him down, and if you re lucky, a glimpse of a tiger or leopard, arrogance clearly written on their feline features: is a resounding lesson in learning to respect nature. Bird-lovers will not suffer for company. With over two hundred species of birds including peafowl, hornbills, woodpeckers, the Crested Hawk Eagle, wagtails, blue jays, partridges, etc. Mo, Bandipur-Conoor- Ooty (50 Kms / 2 Hrs) After breakfast drive to Ooty. En-route visit of an Eucalyptus Oil factory in Coonoor. After visit proceed to board Hill train at 1630/1745 Hrs. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1,000 mm called metre gauge railway, built by the British in On the rack section trains are manufactured by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works of Winterthur in Switzerland. For the past several years diesel locomotives have taken over from steam on the section between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam called Ooty. Local people and tourists have led a demand for steam locomotives to once again haul this section. This Nilgiri rail system is unique as it is the steepest one in Asia. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO during A century after it first attracted travelers, the Nilgiri Mountain Toy train continues to inspire weaving through forests, moving through time, along the valleys and into the little dark winding tunnels, round the bends, up the gradients, through the glens, trees and birds. A whiff of mist, a myna's trill, sunlight dances on yonder hill, whistling, chugging, fire, steam-clacking,

7 moving into a dream Gorge, gorgeous, misty, foggy shrouded peaks, drizzles clothe the slopes. Tu, Ooty-Mysore (125 Kms / 4 Hrs) After breakfast visit of Ooty. Ooty, also known as Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam, which lies 7,349 ft above sea level in the Nilgiris, is known as the Queen of southern hill resorts of India. Situated in the Nilgiris, this famous hill station is at the junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, three southern states of India. Ooty, Botanical Gardens: Laid out in 1847, the Government Botanical Gardens is the most beautiful jewel on the crown of the "Queen of Hill Stations". There are over 650 species of plants housed in the garden. The fossil of a tree trunk believed to be 20 million years old is preserved here. Tea Plantation: Visit a tea plantation. The Nilgiris region is famous for its tea and many of the areas around Ooty are carpeted with the lush greenery of tea plantations. Tours are possible, some of which also include onsite tea factories with shops at which visitors can purchase some of the freshly processed teas. Also visit a Tea Factory. Somnathpur: Set on the shores of the Cauvery River, the tiny village of Somnathpur is situated just 45 km from Mysore and around 140 km southwest of Bangalore This seemingly nondescript hamlet is known widely as the home of the Keshava Temple, one of the finest representations of Hoysala architecture.
