Introduction: Since 1987, what is now Annex X to the Staff Regulations 1, supplemented by methodological manuals 2, has set the framework for the calculation of correction coefficients (CCs) to adjust the salaries of staff serving in duty stations outside the EU. Extra-EU CCs are prepared as a monthly time series (which is different from the situation Intra-EU, where in accordance with Annex XI of the Staff Regulations an annual calculation is made with a possible intermediate adjustment only in certain circumstances). Extra-EU CCs for July each year are adopted by means of a Council Regulation, and take effect from the date of publication in the Official Journal. Intermediate modification of CCs between August and June which vary by more than 5% from the July value are applicable following notification of a Commission Decision, which is communicated to staff by an inter-institutional administrative notice and is typically accompanied by publication in the Official Journal. At periodic intervals, the Commission prepares a report to the Council describing the application of Annex X to the Staff Regulations. This document presents information about the figures produced by Eurostat but not yet adopted and disseminated. For information about the publication history to date, see document A64/13/19.
