2 COMMON INFORMATION FOR ALL STAGES Event Center: meadow near village Borek pod Troskami - part Rokytnice, GPS: N, E, will be marked from route I/35 (E442) from Borek Registration: In the event center, we kindly ask for a registration of whole club at once. Friday :00-15:30 Saturday :30-9:30 Sunday :30-9:00 Clubs with a properly paid fees, which do not require any change or registration, do not have to stand in the queue for the presentation, just pick up the envelope. Info-point: All your questions and comments will be served by the info-point near the registration desk. Please do not direct your questions and comments to IT and registration desk. You will also be able to get there the maps for accompanying photo orienteering and much more. Parking: In the meadow at the competition center for a fee of 50 CZK / whole event. We ask the drivers to follow the instructions of the organizers. Do not park outside of the parking lot designated by the organizer! Parking spaces are divided for camping and non-campers. Way to start is accessible only by foot. Please do not use the car. For the competitors is strictly forbidden to park outside the places reserved for this purpose. Accommodation: The organizer ensures only accommodation in a temporary camp in the event center in their own tents. Other accommodation is not being provided by the organizer. The PP Camp site offers a place with combined parking and camping and dedicated places for caravans and campers. At the registration desk, the accommodated competitors will receive the wrist bands, they are obligated to wear. It will be checked. The camp is opened from Friday August 25th :00 to Sunday August 27th 2017, 15:00. Questions about event center and camp: lucka.vrestalova@seznam.cz There is a road through the event centre. Driver warning boards will be installed, however, be very careful when crossing the road! 2

3 In the camp we kindly ask the competitors to: Sort waste. Yellow sacks are designed for plastics. Blue / Black for mixed waste. Saving water with potable and industrial water, we have to bring it to competition center. Be careful with the gas on the camping when cooking and do not set any open fire! Do not go outside the restricted areas (under threat of disqualification) and did not camp and park outside the restricted areas. Be aware that the camp is close to the river and the road. Please be careful for yourself and your children. Do not leave any valuables in tents. Due to neighborhood of the road and the touristically active area, the "Non-Orienterring population" can be expected near the event center.! Plan of event center for download in.pdf 3

4 Washing: In the competition center there will be a drinking water tank, a non-potable water for washing and provisional showers with cold water. There is a river called Libuňka, which is not suitable for swimming. 500m from the camp there is a pond. It is prohibited to use non-biodegradable detergents. Some of biodegradable soaps and shampoos will be available. Catering: For the runners, a high quality meal will be prepared for Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday lunch. Menu will include vegetarian, vegan and glutenfree meals. You can expect soups, hot meals, salads, snacks and homemade beverages. There will also be a traditional assortment of our bar, a cake stand, fresh pastries, a salty breakfast, hot dogs etc. Yogurt from the nearby local farm Volavec will also be available. Babysitting: In the event center only for the necessary time of your race. The children's corner will be opened 45 minutes before the start and closed no later than 15 minutes after the end of the race limit. Control Descriptions: Only in the event center situated on the info-board. Punching system: SportIdent for all stages. In case of malfunction of electronic punching, you have to punch manually to the "R boxes" on the map. In this case, the map must be returned immediately to the organizers at the finish. Please check your SI number according to the starting list. In case of discrepancy, ask for a correction on the registration desk. In case of loss of hired SI an amount of 1000 CZK will be charged. Classes: D10, D12, D20, D21, D21, D21, D21, D21, D21B, D21C, D35, D40, D45, D50, D50, D60, H21A, H21B, H21C, H35, H40, H45, H50, H55, H60, H65, H70, H75 HDR line track is with the parents accompaniment, 2 maps available for child and for parent, D10L, H10L - uninterrupted marked line course, P, T courses for incoming and public on individual days will be available in limited numbers only on the spot. The results are not public, but can be read with a SI. The free start by punching the start unit and the reading of the splits is marked on the special SI reading box "Read P, T". 4

5 Ultimate: D21UL, H21UL, D21UK, H21UK (an "ultimate" course on specially modified maps, K - shorter, L - longer). Classes D / H21UK and D / H21UL will have even bigger adventure running on increased race difficulty and even greater experience on specially modified maps. Editing changes are also described directly on the map. S1: Map in forest areas shows only contours, rocks, and run-ability. S2: The courses will guide you to the past and back up to the present. S3: The map around the courses contains only contours and rocks, and sometimes only a few contours or only the rocks. It is strictly banned to use any kind of shoe with metal dobs and spikes, also applies to ankle boots with spikes!!! This would scratch the rocks and it will be checked at the start! SI reading: In the event centre. The ongoing results will be posted and announced in the event center. We ask the competitors to read the SI cards immediately after returning from the race. First aid: First aid available in the finish area of every stage. Regulation: Race is regulated according to ČSOS rules. Winning times according to the competition rules of ČSOS. Key to evaluating results: Determining the overall ranking of a competitor in the category is given by a simple sum of time from all three stages. Prize giving ceremony: On Sunday, August 27th, 2017 at about 2:30 pm in the event center. The first three competitors from all classes will be awarded, except for the training classes P and T. In the HDR, HD10, D10L and H10L classes, all participants will receive a small reward as part of the ceremony. Protests: With a deposit of 200 CZK to the main referee of the stage. 6 Other: Way to the start is marked by blue-white ribbons. Route from the finish by redwhite ribbons. The HDR and HD10L courses are marked by red-white plastic ribbons. HDR class has 2 maps available for both children and parents. All maps are waterproof. Maps at the finish will not be collected. Please, keep fair-play! Pay attention in the rocks! You compete at your own risk. Competitions take place in the protected landscape area, follow all the instructions of the organizer. Ownership of the map does not allow you to organize individual training sessions nor team training camps! Consult the planned activities with the OOB Turnov and with the forest administrations and the CHKO. Sales and promotional activities in the event center, in the vicinity of the event center, in pre-start or finish areas and along routes to start and finish are possible only with the organizer's prior approval! STAGE 1 - middle distance Friday Start: 00 = 16:00 Interval start, HDR have a free start by punching the start unit from time 0 to the time of the last starting competitor according to the starting list for the respective stage. Distance EC - start: 1200m, climb 25m; Finish is not close to the start, but approx. half of the way is the same. WC and water available. Map: Trosky Scaled 1: for DH16 - DH21; 1: 7,500 for other classes. Contour interval 5 m Stand: July 2017, authors J. Borůvka and R. Horky, waterproof. Finish: Distance finish area - event center 1000 m. Time limit 60 minutes. Terrain: Partly challenging rugged slope with some rock features. Partly smaller valleys bordered with rocks and rock towers. There are high cliffs and dangerous areas in the area, be very careful. 6

7 All courses cross the busy road to the Trosky castle! The crossing will be guarded by the organizers, but be careful when crossing the road. It is forbidden to cross the road outside the mandatory crossing and run along this road (marked with purple crosses on the competition map). Do not enter any private meadows and land near the start and along the way to start and finish. There is a strict ban on entering private meadows and pastures at the beginning of the courses and near the finish where we are not allowed to enter (marked as out-of-bounds area in the map). Embargoed areas: All forest area Rokytnice - Vidlak - Tachov - Kopanina and Dlouha Ves, except for the road Trosky - Rokytnice and marked route to the start is embargoed till the end of the first stage. Out-of-bounds areas: During the race is strictly forbidden to enter private land, private meadows, all fencing and newly planted open areas! Forbidden private meadows and other forbidden areas are marked as out-of-bounds area in the map and will be checked by the organizers. Entry into such an area will lead to disqualification and damage to the forest stands will be handed over to the management of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area. STAGE 2 - long distance Saturday Start: 00 = 10:00 Interval start, HDR have a free start by punching the start unit from time 0 to the time of the last starting competitor according to the starting list for the respective stage. Distance EC - start: 1600m, 50m climb WC and water available. The way to the start goes partly along the minor road, pay attention. Map: Skaláček Scaled: 1: Contour interval: 5 m Stand: summer 2017, waterproof Finish: Distance finish area - event center: 900 m. Time limit 150 minutes. Terrain: Rocky and very rugged terrain, several smaller rock towns, deep valleys with steep and slippery slopes. Course setter: Jan Vrestal Controller: Jindřich Kořínek 7

8 Attention: All classes have a refreshment station equipped with water. Refreshment is at control 77 and is indicated on the map by the appropriate symbol. For the elite classes, the long distance winning times are shortened by about 20-30%. Most courses cross the minor roads. Crossings will be guarded by the organizers, but be very careful when crossing the road. The H21E and H21A also cross another minor road. Pay extra attention. There are high cliffs in the area, be careful. There is one small area with fallen trees - on the map marked with symbol 710 dangerous area. Pay attention to the order of controls numbers and control codes. Embargoed areas: All forest area of the old map Skaláček, except for the marked route to the start is embargoed till the end of the second stage. Out-of-bounds areas: During the race is strictly forbidden to enter private land, private meadows, all fencing and newly planted open areas! Forbidden private meadows and other forbidden areas are marked as out-of-bounds area in the map and will be checked by the organizers. Entry into such an area will lead to disqualification and damage to the forest stands will be handed over to the management of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area. STAGE 3 - middle distance Sunday Start: 00 = 9:30 Interval start, HDR have a free start by punching the start unit from time 0 to the time of the last starting competitor according to the starting list for the respective stage. Distance EC - start: 1500m, 50m climb; Finish is not close to the start, but approx. half of the way is the same. WC and water available on the way to start. Map: Bora Scaled 1: 7,500 for all classes Contour interval 5 m Stand: June 2017, author: Zdeněk Sokolář, waterproof Finish: Distance finish area - event center: 1300m, time limit 120 minutes Terrain: Partly rocky and very rugged and detailed terrain of rock towns, partly fast plateau with contour details bordered by huge rocks, partly hills bordered with cliffs and rocks. 9 Attention: The way to start and finish leads partly along minor road and also along very busy I class road I/35!!! Crossing this main road is only possible in marked area according to the organizers' instructions. Be very careful. For children accompaniment of an adult is really recommended. Pay attention to the control numbers and codes, there is a lot of control in the forest in a relatively small area often very close to each other (but according the rules of ČSOS). There are high cliffs and rocks in the area. Potentially dangerous places near controls will be marked with tape. Be very careful. You race at your own risk. Some longer courses have a mandatory leg marked on the map and in the control descriptions. It will be marked with red-white ribbons. Due to the fact that the courses of some classes will be slightly longer, there is an unofficial refreshment point for some classes located at the end of the mandatory leg (not marked in the map nor descriptions). Please do not delay reading of the SI card after you finish the last stage, you will speed up the prize giving ceremony. Embargoed areas: All forest area of the old maps Bora / Borecké skály, except for the marked route to the start is embargoed till the end of the third stage. Out-of-bounds areas: During the race is strictly forbidden to enter private land, private meadows and areas around summer houses and newly planted open areas! Forbidden private meadows and other forbidden areas are marked as out-of-bounds area in the map and will be checked by the organizers. Entry into such an area will lead to disqualification and damage to the forest stands will be handed over to the management of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area. ACCOMPANYING PROGRAM THE BEST PUNCHER OF NICE HOLIDAYS BY O-RUN Saturday August 26th 2017 Qualification: from 16:00 to 18:00 in the EC The fastest 16 Punchers proceed to the final. Fastest 4 young punchers (up to 14 years) proceed to the separated final U14. Final: from 18:00 in the EC in pairs on parallel courses according to the results of qualification. If one of the finalists is not present, next competitor in a row will participate. Entries to qualification are to be made directly at the start. All rules will be published at the EC. No starting fee for Nice Holidays participants. 9

10 Nice Holidays official banquet (PP Party) Saturday August 26th 2017 When: approx. from 20:30 Where: Will be specified. It is likely that it will take a place outside on a greenfield. What: This year we cannot organize a traditional party as usual because we were not able to find any suitable place in the vicinity of the event center. But we will prepare some compensation. Phot-O raffle There is a photo orienteering ready as a tip for your sightseeing trip to make this weekend even more interesting. Maps are available at info-kiosk next to the registration desk for 20,- CZK. You need to match photos of certain places with control numbers from the map and fill it in provided card. All cards submitted to infokiosk will be in drawing and may win a prizes from our partners. The draw will be held after an awarding ceremony on Sunday. Tips for trips Museum of motorbikes Borek pod Troskami We organized cheaper entrance fee for Nice Holidays participants only for 30,- CZK/person. To apply for a cheaper entrance fee you have to show your SI card when buying the tickets in the museum. Ruin of castle Trosky We organized cheaper entrance fee for Nice Holidays participants only for 60,- CZK/person.
