This edition concentrates on three main issues: The Coffs Harbour biennial reunion 2013 ANZAC Day 2013 The forthcoming AGM Firstly, my personal congratulations to Dave Auld and his Organising Committee for putting on a great re-union. Further, many thanks to Dave Doyle OAM (President of Coffs Harbour Ex-Services Club C Ex and a proud former Locator) for your support. Clearly C Ex is a major player in the Coffs Community and its support of the Local RSL Sub Branch in particular and the community in general is there for all to see. The Coffs re-union coincided with ANZAC Day on this occasion and reports on both the re-union and ANZAC Day appear later in LOCREP. Our AGM rapidly approaches and details together with nomination forms for office bearers are included in this edition. This will be my last message to you as President and Editor of LOCREP since I will not be seeking re-election at the AGM. I am grateful to Joe Kaplun and the Committee for the support and encouragement I have received in the many years I have been President. I urge members to get right behind the incoming Committee as it seeks to carry the Association forward into the future, especially in respect of its relevance to the new breed of STA personnel. The latter has been a personal goal of mine and while we are not there yet, we are well on the way. There are a few special people who have contributed materially to our operation as an Association. I refer specifically to: Bob Owens for his support in providing our meeting space at Paddo Jan Nash for her backroom efforts in the accounts department Fran Sinclair for making LOCREP an electronic reality. I wish you all the very best. Ubique Allan Harrison President

THE AGM 2013 COFFS HARBOUR RE-UNION A reminder that the 2013 AGM will take place at the Paddington RSL on Sunday 14th July 2013 at 1115 hrs. Notices of motion to be considered at the AGM should reach the Secretary, 63 Highland Drive, Bowral NSW 2576, not later than 24th June 2013. Nominations for the six positions on the Executive Committee (President, Junior and Senior Vice President, Secretary/Public Officer, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer) should also reach the Secretary by the same date. A nomination form is enclosed. Please note the order in which the form is completed: The Coffs re-union, as is usual, went down very well indeed. Numbers were down on past performances due in no small measure to members choosing to stay at home for ANZAC Day and parade in their local marches. Those who made the journey to Coffs were rewarded with brilliant weather, and a few memorable days, including taking part in the local ANZAC Day observances. In all 50 people attended and the smaller numbers enabled organisers to put on some unusual activities which made the visit all the more interesting. We were hosted at breakfast one morning at the RAN Training Station Vendetta (see pictures below). Section 1 is completed by the member PROPOSING a member for election. Section 2 is completed by the member SECONDING the nomination. Section 3 is completed by the member being proposed for election, ACCEPTING the nomination. All three must be financial members of the Association SERVICES AVAILABLE For MEMBERS Contact details are as follows: George Wearn assisted by Geoff Carthew preparing breakfast. RAN TS Vendetta Other highlights included a visit to the Cartoon Gallery, a former WW2 RAAF bunker which served as the control centre for all RAAF movements in the area during WW2. A number of relics of the era are preserved in the gallery, including the control panel of an RAAF Spitfire. Rob Retrot sends one down at Woolgoolga Well done Dave Auld and your organising committee, supported as always by Dave Doyle and Coffs Harbour Ex-Services Club. We look forward to the next. ANZAC Day 2013 Melbourne Spitfire exhibit The evenings included a meet and greet on night one, the re-union dinner on night two and a formal dinner on night three. On the Saturday we were treated to brunch and bowls at Woolgoolga Bowling Club. The ever-reliable John Dellaca sent us this photo of the lads at the re-org after the Melbourne march. John reports that the weather was kind and numbers were a bit down on past marches. Thanks John, much appreciated.

Coffs Harbour As previously reported, the biennial Coffs Harbour Locators re-union coincided with ANZAC Day this time around. The old Association Banner was paraded (probably for the last time) and we marched proudly behind a local Scottish Pipe Band. Sydney While the Association Banner was On Parade in Coffs Harbour, the rallying point for Locators at the Sydney march was the Det 131 Div Loc Bty Banner. Allen Morley and the boys made all Locators more than welcome and we thank you for that Allen. We were led by BRIG Patrick Gowans OAM. Locators assembled in Sydney prior to stepping off. He has his own phone # 02 9346 1240. He would be pleased to receive a phone call or a visit from some of his old mates. BRIG Gowans OAM moves forward to lay a wreath at the post-march Service at the Coffs Cenotaph.
