ITINERARY Germany has long been a country of fascination, though the country itself is a fairly recent creation in Europe. From the noble heights of the Holy Roman Empire to the lows of WWII and the Nazi regime, the industrious people of Germany have emerged stronger than ever. This is a land that produced religious revolution, scientific and technological breakthroughs, and masterpieces of art and music - all while retaining a rich and unique cultural heritage. Educational Tour/Visit Cultural Experience Festival/Performance/Workshop Tour Services Recreational Activity LEAP Enrichment Match/Training Session DAY 1 Friday, 04 October 2019 Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from Atlanta to Munich, Germany DAY 2 Saturday, 05 October 2019 Our 24-hour Tour Director will meet us at the airport and remain with us until our final airport departure. We will have use of a private coach and driver, while touring for the next eight days. Visit the Dachau Concentration Camp. In 1933, what had once been a quiet little artists community became a tragic symbol of the Nazi era, the first German concentration camp. The Audioguided tour of the camp includes the memorial chapels and two of the rebuilt barracks. The Museum is housed in the large building that once contained the kitchen, laundry, and shower baths. We will continue on to Salzburg, Austria. Our hotel in Salzburg, will be our base for the next two nights. While here, we will enjoy breakfast at the hotel. With its elegant squares and quaint streets Salzburg the famous Baroque city is a delightful introduction to the sophisticated world of arguably the greatest classical genius W.A. Mozart. DAY 3 Sunday, 06 October 2019 During the course of our tour we will gain from the knowledge and insight of two half-day local guides while we are here in Austria. Take a Sound of Music Tour, including sights in Salzburg associated with the historicallybased film and an excursion outside the city to visit places where the film was shot. A highlight of the tour will be the baroque Mirabell Gardens with the tour concluding at Hellbrunn Palace, an early 17th century palace, we will have time to explore the Palace Gardens. Visit the house where Mozart was born in 1756, and tour the museum dedicated to his life and works. Singers and strings of the "Amadeus Consort Salzburg" perform arias and duettos from 'Don Giovanni', 'Le Nozze di Figaro' and 'The Magic Flute' as well as instrumental works like the serenade 'A Little Night Music'. During concert intermission, dinner will be served. 1

DAY 4 Monday, 07 October 2019 Explore Salzburger Dom (Salzburg Cathedral), which is world renowned for its 4,000-pipe organ. The cathedral has been hailed by some critics as the most perfect Renaissance building in the Germanic countries, and features a marble facade and symmetrical twin towers. Today we will travel from Salzburg, Austria, to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, stopping in Oberammergau, Germany on the way. The quaint town of Oberammergau, is famed for its woodcarving center and renowned for its painted houses, in a colorful style known as Lüftmalerei, typical for the region. In addition, Oberammergau is famous worldwide for its Passion Play. We will continue to the Garmisch Partenkirchen (area), which will be our base for the next three nights. While here, we will enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Spend time in the twin villages of Garmisch and Partenkirchen, which make up Germany s top alpine resort. In spite of their urban flair, the towns maintain the charm of an ancient village, often with country folk in traditional dress. The towns and their environs offer some of the most panoramic views in Bavaria. You will have some free time to explore the area. DAY 5 Tuesday, 08 October 2019 Alpine views are around every corner and ski slopes just a funicular ride from the center of historic Innsbruck. A medieval old town is home to imperial palaces, world-class galleries and Zaha Hadid's avant-garde designs. Sophisticated, good-looking and affluent, the Tyrolean capital walks a fine tightrope between the urban and the outdoors, the historic and the cutting edge, and it pulls off the act beautifully. Visit Schloss Ambras, a Renaissance palace southeast of Innsbruck on the edge of the Mittelgebirgsterrace. The castle was built by Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria, Count of Tyrol, in the 16th century and is divided into a lower and an upper castle set in the remains of a medieval fortress. The Lower Castle features collections of arms and armor, art, and books, as well as the Spanish Hall, one of the first German Renaissance halls, built to house the portraits of the counts of Tyrol. The Upper Castle has a collection of medieval sculpture and a portrait gallery of dynastic paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries. Explore Swarovski Kristallwelten, created to celebrate 100 years of Swarovski Crystal in 1995. View many crystal works created by artists over the past century, including the largest kaleidoscope in the world. DAY 6 Wednesday, 09 October 2019 During the course of our tour we will gain from the knowledge and insight of one half-day local guides while we are here in Germany. Munich is the capital city of Bavaria. It was founded in the 12th century, and named for a settlement of Benedictine monks. Munich is now a cosmopolitan city that is at the forefront of the financial and publishing industries, and notable for its role in the development of music and the arts. Discover the area of Munich around Marienplatz, which is dedicated to the patron of the city. See the Neues Rathaus and observe the Glockenspiel on its facade. This is the fourth largest chiming clock in Europe, and stages an elaborate performance twice a day. View the Frauenkirche, the largest Gothic assembly building in southern Germany, and the seat of the Archbishopric of Munich. With its twin towers, topped with onion domes, the church has become a symbol of the city. Tour the Residenz, home of the Wittelsbach dynasty up until 1918. See the magnificent State Rooms, the Grotto Courtyard, Court Chapel and the spectacular Antiquarium, the largest Renaissance ceremonial hall north of the Alps. The visit to the Residenz complex also includes the Cuvilliés Theater, one of the finest Rococo theaters in the world, and the Treasury, which houses the crown and orb of the Bavarian kings. 2

DAY 7 Thursday, 10 October 2019 Today we will travel from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, to Lucerne, Switzerland, stopping in Lichtenstein on the way. The Principality of Liechtenstein is a tiny, doubly-landlocked country tucked away between Switzerland and Austria and with mountain slopes rising above the Rhine valley. It's known for its medieval castles, alpine landscapes and villages linked by a network of trails. The capital, Vaduz, a cultural and financial center, is home to Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, with galleries of modern and contemporary art. The Postmuseum displays Liechtenstein's postage stamps. For the next three nights, our base will be in Lucerne. Breakfast will be included at the hotel. Lucerne is the most populous city in Central Switzerland, and a focal point of the region. Due to its location on the shore of Lake Lucerne, within sight of Mount Pilatus and Rigi in the Swiss Alps, Lucerne is traditionally considered first and foremost as a tourist destination. One of the city's famous landmarks is Chapel Bridge with a wooden bridge first built in the 14th century. It has also been voted as the 5th most popular tourism destination in the world. DAY 8 Friday, 11 October 2019 During the course of our tour, we will gain from the knowledge and insight of one half day local guides while we are here in Switzerland. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Lucerne, Switzerland's most famous lake. View the Lion Monument which was created in 1820 by Bertel Thorvaldsen and Lukas Ahorn. It was built in honor of the Swiss Guards who lost their lives in 1792 during the French Revolution when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. Walk down Kurplatz, taking in the best view of the lake from its northern rim. If we follow the path to the end, we will be treated to views of Lucerne's Riviera. Bask in the beauty found in the historical heart of Lucerne as you stroll through the picturesque medieval square ofweinmarkt and the Kornmarkt square which contains the Town Hall and beautifully painted Pfistern guildhall. DAY 9 Saturday, 12 October 2019 Visit beautiful Mount Pilatus, which is easily accessible by riding the Pilatus Railway, the steepest cogwheel railway in the world. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding and pristine area. You will have some free time to explore the area. Dinner this evening will be in a local restaurant. DAY 10 Sunday, 13 October 2019 Our rewarding and enjoyable tour comes to an end as our Tour Director accompanies us to the airport on our final day. 3
