NHHAC News The Newsletter of the North Hills Historic Auto Club September 2018 Volume 48 Issue 9 A Message from the President On August 16th, I had finally completed my message for this newsletter and after the Acker s Mystery Tour I had to tear it up and start over! The Mystery Tour turned out to my complete amazement to be a surprise picnic/reception for Hope and me. Thanks to Suzanne Acker, Annie Cutuli and many others, you all really got us BIG TIME!!! Most of you already knew what was going to happen, but to my surprise, it was kept Top Secret! Not one person spilled the beans, which I found amazing that so many people knew but never slipped up once. Like I said, you really got us big time, as we knew absolutely nothing! Even as we pulled into the train station parking lot, it didn t dawn on us. My first thought was that I plan two trips a month all summer and get five to ten cars and, Suzanne and Joe Acker do a mystery lunch trip and they have 30 plus cars! What was I doing wrong!? Hope and I were so overwhelmed! Thank you all so much! We still can t believe that so many people attended, brought food and worked so hard to prepare and clean up after! Have to mention, too, that Joe and Suzanne did a great job presenting trophies to some of the attendees! (Nice way to clean out the basement, Joe!) It really added to the fun time! Thank you doesn t seem adequate for everything each of you have done for us. What great friends and what a great Club to belong to!!! (I called my sisters and they just couldn t believe it! But they were so happy for us!) OK now down to business! As usual, Daryl made an interesting presentation at the last meeting about some of our first cars and stories of such. Nice to have members participate with their comments, too! Thank you! Want to also thank all of you who supported Mike Coco s need for antique cars at the Town of McCandless Museum on Aug. 4th. He reported that there was a nice showing! It s that time of year to think about some of the positions needed to run your Club. We need one new Board of Directors member and we could use an Historian. (Maybe with a little pay increase, our Treasurer of many years and Secretary will stay on ) Like I ve always said, if everyone would just do one job for the Club, it would be so appreciated! Don t forget the picnic on Sept. 9th! Remember to call Jan or Bonnie of you plan to attend. It s always a good time! Hopefully we ll have some dry weather for the fall! See you at the September meeting! Your President, Steve Illsley Since 1971 www.nhhaclub.com
