We strive to create a safe environment in a place that instills core values that help every child grow physically, mentally and spiritually so that they may achieve their greatest potential. FACILITIES AND AMENITIES First Baptist Church - (including gymnasium, cafeteria and classrooms) used for gathering, morning devotion and daily activities. Classrooms provide more indoor space for themed and preschool camps Kess Creek Park - that provides shade, exploration, games and activities such as volleyball, disc golf, and playground activities. Y Outdoor Pavilion - for huddle time, snacks and camp picnics. Y Field Space that enhances sports camps and allows for large game play for all camps Youth Gymnasium allows kids to take a break from the outdoors and any inclement weather while still providing room to play and run Child Care Classrooms give groups an opportunity to break away from the larger camp for arts & crafts, reading, games and group play YMCA Facility gives our campers a safe place to learn new skills, swim and get healthy indoors. The SPLASH Park gives our campers a space to have fun in the water while soaking up some sun. OUTDOOR POOLS AND SPLASH PARK MAYFIELD GRAVES COUNTY 2016 CAMP GUIDE Be a part of the best summer ever! Sign up for Summer Camp at the YMCA! For countless children our Pools and Splash Park are the most popular camp feature. Many campers will have the opportunity to swim, play and cool off in the Indoor/Outdoor Pools or Splash Parks during their camp weeks. Campers may have to pass a swim test before entering pools that we use during the summer. All swimmers must have legitimate bathing suits and/or swim trunks. Our pool facility includes: Indoor main pool, Outdoor pools with multiple water slides, swimming lanes and varying depths Traditional kiddie pools that do not exceed three feet in depth Splash Park with a zero-depth entry and multiple water spray features that children can turn on and off at their pleasure *Not all camps swim
CAMP DESCRIPTIONS (Camp Name, Session Number and Description) *To accommodate a variety of schedules, we have flexible Drop-off and Pick-up times for each camp. Preschoolers will be introduced to summer camp through traditional games, songs, crafts and so much more all while making new friends in a safe and secure setting. Campers will cool off each Wednesday in the outdoor Splash Pool. Children will eat breakfast, lunch and a snack during the camp day. On Friday, parents are invited to bring their lunch and eat with their camper. All campers must be potty trained. Fine Motor Fun Camp (AM)... 2 Join us for a week of fine motor activities taught by one of our preschool teachers. We will cut, color and create a variety of projects reinforcing fine motor skills. Campers will practice pencil grip, scissor control, tracing, selfportraits, games and much, much more! All campers must be potty trained. This camp does not swim. Get Up and Move Camp (AM)... 5 Launch your preschooler s self-expression through a camp filled with yoga, fitness, dance, music and art. Preschoolers will participate in a variety of activities that allow them to express their creativity in many ways. All campers must be potty trained. This camp does not swim. Green Thumb Camp (AM)...7 Catch a ladybug, chase a firefly and grow a garden all while learning about nature and the world around us through stories, songs, art and exploration. All campers must be potty trained. This camp does not swim. This camp will include field trips on Tuesdays and swimming on Mondays and Fridays. Ages 5-7 Explore the Seven Seas Camp (AM)....4 Ahoy matey! Join us for high-seas and land adventures as we search for buried treasure and explore all things pirate through crafts, songs and play. Ages 5 7 Once Upon A Time Camp... 6 We will bring your favorite stories to life in this fun-filled week as we search for fairies and dragons, play like knights and princesses. See your dreams fulfilled with the wave of a magic wand that you create! We will mix up fantasy potions, build a castle and create a fairy house as we use our imagination to visit faraway lands. Campers will compete in a handful of Olympic Games including all of the classics: basketball, table-tennis, relay races and traditional camp games. Ages 5 7 Seuss-Tastic Readers Camp (AM)... 10 Oh, the fun you will have spending a week in the magical world of Dr. Seuss! Reading, rhyming and rolling with laughter at the many stories from the unrivaled Dr. Seuss. In addition to hearing the original stories, campers will let their imaginations be their guide and create their own Dr. Seuss inspired stories, drawings and songs to share with their fellow campers. Ages 5 7 DAY CAMP Day Camp (M, Tu, Th, F)... 1-10 This half-day morning camp is the perfect partner to our afternoon specialty camps. Activities includes arts and crafts, games, reading, group time, devotions, gym time. Campers will be escorted to their respective afternoon camp by a camp counselor. This portion of camp will go on field trips Wednesdays. Drop-off: 7:00-8:30 AM The following themed camps will go on field trips each Wednesday and swim Mondays and Thursdays. Cooking Around the World Camp (PM)... 1 Chefs in this camp will learn the basics of meal preparation, dining etiquette and healthy eating in our teaching kitchen! Each day they will celebrate by preparing the cuisine of a different culture. Your chef will bring home a recipe book at the conclusion of camp. Baseball Camp (Boys or Girls)... 2 Batter up! Learn and develop the fundamentals of the game including throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and positioning. Campers will build skills and enjoy participating in counselor- pitch games! Disney Art Camp (PM)...3 This camp will focus on the artistic design, layout and story of Disney Animated Films. Children will learn how to draw famous Disney characters and create their own storyboard. Basketball Camp (Boys or Girls) (PM)...4 Don t miss tip off! This camp prepares athletes to be game ready by practicing ball handling, passing and shooting, all while competing in daily scrimmages and drills. Campers are grouped by age. Time Traveler Camp (PM)... 5 Get your passport ready and join us as we travel through time to explore the Renaissance, prehistoric times, the Middle Ages, the Wild West and more. Campers will experience a taste of different time periods through games, art, and music. Girls Rock Camp....6 Celebrate all things G-I-R-L with a jam-packed week of special activities designed to build confidence and self-esteem. This camp includes crafts, contests and more as campers rock out on individuality and creativity. Girls Flag Football Camp (Boys) (PM)...6 Are you ready for some football! Passing, catching, positioning and defense are all a part of this interactive camp that teaches skills while having fun. Campers are grouped by age. Boys Air and Space Camp...7 Go to the moon and beyond in this fun and activity-filled camp. Campers will let their imaginations soar while learning about our solar system and airplane flight. They will create their very own rocket, fly paper airplanes and use their imaginations to blast off. Soccer Camp (Boy or Girls) (PM)...8 Dribble, shoot, pass and defend during this week-long camp focused on soccer fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship! Campers will participate in age-appropriate drills, engaging activities and small-sided games. Olympic Games Camp (PM)... 9 The 2016 Summer Olympics aren t just in Rio de Janeiro. Dance Party Camp (PM)... 10 Ever wanted to learn fun line dances like Cha Cha Slide, Whip/Nae Nae, the Wobble, Macarena and the Electric Slide; you can in this camp! Campers will learn a new dance daily and create a new group dance to the song of their choosing to perform on Friday. DAY CAMP Day Camp (M, Tu, Th, F)... 1-10 This half-day morning camp is the perfect partner to our afternoon specialty camps. Activities includes arts and crafts, games, swimming, group time, devotions, gym time. These campers will participate in a mentor program with younger campers during reading and volunteer for several community outreach projects. This portion of camp will go on field trips Wednesdays. Drop-off: 7:00-8:30 AM Game On Camp (PM)....1 This is not your typical sports camp! Our athletes will enjoy learning and playing new and timeless games and sports, including pickle ball, dodge ball, gator ball, capture the flag, mat ball, kickball and more. Babysitting Camp....2 This camp will give pre-teens the valuable experience needed to become a confident and professional babysitter. Campers will learn essential childcare skills, work with preschoolers and become certified in Child and Infant CPR, First Aid and Babysitting upon passing the certification tests given at the Y. Amazing Race: Mayfield...3 Based on the popular TV show, we will take our teens out for a series of competitions and races throughout the city of Mayfield! From scavenger hunts to sports competitions to eclectic destinations, campers will discover all the amazing things our area has to offer. Hooked on Books: Reading and Writing Camp (PM)...4 Is your child hooked on books? Both the book enthusiast and book weary will love this camp, filled with age-appropriate reading and writing activities. Road Trippin Camp... 6 Summer is all about seeing and exploring new places! Travel to faraway places while staying right here at home. Explore music, art, food and culture of other countries. Try this hands-on camp that explores camera use, perspective and lighting that will bring out your young Ansel Adams.
