Acceptance of the Protocol on the Authentic Trilingual Text of the Chicago Convention is deemed by virtue of adherence to that Convention, as provided by Article V of the Protocol. By a Note dated 16/2/95, received on 20/3/95, the Government of the Slovak Republic informed ICAO that: In accordance with relevant principles and rules of international law and to the extent defined by it, the Slovak Republic, as a successor State, born from the dissolution of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, considers itself bound, as of January 1, 1993, i.e. the date on which the Slovak Republic assumed responsibility for its international relations, by multilateral treaties to which the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was a party as of 31 December 1992, including reservations and declaration made earlier by Czechoslovakia, as well as objections by Czechoslovakia to reservations formulated by other treaty-parties. The Slovak Republic wishes further to maintain its status as a Contracting State of the treaties to which Czechoslovakia was a Contracting State and which were not yet in force at the date of the dissolution of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic as well as the status of a signatory State of the treaties which were previously signed but not ratified by Czechoslovakia. The above declaration applies to the following international air law instruments for which ICAO is the depositary. Reservations/declarations made by the former Czechoslovakia which continue in force for the Slovak Republic are indicated. (1) Protocols of Amendment to the Convention (Chicago, 1944) relating to Article 45 (1954), Articles 48(a), 49(e) and 61 (1954), 50(a) (1961, 1971 and 1974), Article 48(a)

- 5 - (1962), Article 56 (1971), 83 bis (1980), 3 bis (1984) and 56 (1989). These instruments entered into force on the dates indicated and not on 1 January 1993. (2) Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, signed at Tokyo on 14/9/63. (3) Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts of Violence at Airports Serving International Civil Aviation, Supplementary to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation, done at Montreal on 23/9/71, signed at Montreal on 24/2/88. (4) Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Detection, done at Montreal on 1/3/91. The declaration made by Czechoslovakia in accordance with Article XIII, paragraph 2, of the Convention that it is a producer State of plastic explosives continues to be valid for the Slovak Republic. (5) Agreement on the Joint Financing of Certain Air Navigation Services in Greenland, signed at Geneva on 25/9/56, as amended by the Montreal Protocol of 1982. The reservation made with respect to paragraph 2 of Article XXI of the Agreement that Czechoslovakia does not consent to making any contributions for any period prior to 1/1/65 (i.e. beginning of year in which the former Czechoslovakia acceded to the Agreement) continues to be valid for the Slovak Republic. (6) Agreement on the Joint Financing of Certain Air Navigation Services in Iceland, signed at Geneva on 25/9/56, as amended by the Montreal Protocol of 1982. 4 5 6 7 Notification of succession to the Convention was deposited with the Government of the United States on 13 December 1995, with effect from 1 January 1993. Effected with reservation as to acceptance. Declaration, in accordance with Article XIII, paragraph 2, of the Convention, that Slovakia is a producer State of plastic explosives.
