Underground Excursions Electric Mountain Set against a magnificent backdrop of the Snowdonia mountains, Electric Mountain is an amazing feat of engineering. Take an underground tour of this awesome space, it s like a film-set for a James Bond movie, vast chambers and tunnels so big you can drive a bus through them - which is good, since you ll be on it. The Ffestiniog runs from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog whilst the Welsh Highland runs from Caernarfon to Porthmadog where the two railways link together covering 40 miles of track. A selection of journeys is available from a 90 minute return to a full day out. Refreshments are available on most trains with hot snacks on Welsh Highland services. Take a self-guided tour which includes a film, MP3 audio commentary and exhibitions on geology, history, calligraphy and letter cutting. Have a go at calligraphy and try engraving on a piece of slate that you get to keep as a souvenir. There is a children s quiz with a slate prize.
