October 2015 Issue #271 President s Chatter Our first meeting at our new location was held on September 22 nd. We had a very good turnout. A sample of our new Bumper Plaque was passed around and those who had not seen it yet were very impressed. Our thanks and appreciation go out to Paul Dubreuil and Archie Bardwell for all their hard work. Anyone wishing to order a plaque may do so by talking to either of them.! The Harwinton Library does not require any monetary rent for use of the area for our meeting, but it was voted on and approved to donate $20.00 per month for that use. To absorb the cost of that it was voted on that our yearly dues will be increased to $25.00. New Membership/Renewal Applications will appear in our next Newsletter as well as on our website.! The Minuteman Model A Club of Massachusetts will be hosting the 2016 New England Model A Meet. The dates are September 8, 9 10 and 11, 2016. The Host Hotel is the Westford Regency, the rate is $118.00 per night. For reservations call (978) 692-8200.! Our Christmas Party will be held on December 5, 2016 at Amici s Italian Grill in Avon. Please save the date. More information will follow. Our next meeting will be held on October 27, 2015 at 7:30. See you then.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Harwinton Public Library (80 Bentley Drive Harwinton, CT 06791) From Route 8- Take exit 42 onto Rt. 118 east toward Harwinton. Travel 2.5 miles on Rt. 118 to Bentley Drive. Minutes of Northwestern CT A s Meeting Tues., Sept 22, 2015 Harwinton, CT Meeting Called to Order at 7:32 pm by our President, Bert Serra. Guests: None Secretaries Report: Read and accepted Treasurer s Report: Read and Accepted. Membership: 40 paid members. Cheers: Bill Doyle had a knee replacement Old Business Bumper Plaque - Sample was passed around; great comments from all that have seen it. It was a hit at the New England Meet in Mystic recently. Thanks to Archie and Paul for design and completing this project. Club Picnic - Everyone applauded Bert & Mike for hosting this year. Meeting Place: Don Bruno checked 3 or 4 places to hold our meetings. The Harwinton Library is a very nice place, and it's free - with a suggestion of a donation. Keep looking at our newsletter for meeting schedules. A motion was made and passed; for the next 3 months $20/month donation. Dues: A motion was made and passed; to raise the dues from $20 to $25 yr. to cover our new meeting place costs. New Business Christmas Party: Arrangements have been made for Amici's Restaurant in Avon for a sit down dinner on Saturday, December 5th. Save the date. Fliers will go out soon. New England Meet report: 193 registrations, 178 cars. They had an all female big band for music and dancing. It was a good band. Tours: The City of Torrington is celebrating 275 years. Saturday, Oct 17th, 12 noon 'til 4, looking for 30 cars. Contact Glen Royals to sign up. The work was done by Frank Casey who does metal stitching of cast iron without heat. He also does magnaflux testing for cracks.
