There are no required prerequisites for this program and teens can participate in any order. Level 1 Hiking, Horseback Riding & Art Studio July 12 The Level 1 Adventure Camp day will start off with a hike on the beautiful Sundance hiking trails. During the hike, Campers will receive instruction on hiking basics, including essentials and gear, search and rescue basics and Leave No TraceÔ principles. After lunch, Campers will be transported to the Sundance Stables where they will enjoy a guided horseback ride to the beautiful Elk Meadows. Following the horseback ride, Campers will go to the Sundance Art Studio where they will receive instruction from the Sundance Artists-in- Residence. Campers will leave with the art project that they create. Level 1 Requirements Campers must be able to comfortably hike on rocky mountain terrain for approximately 3 miles. No previous horseback riding experience is necessary to participate. No specific art experience is necessary to participate, though an interest in artistic techniques is ideal. Level 2 ZipTour & Mountain Biking July 17 The Level 2 Adventure Camp will begin the day at the ZipTour office where each camper will be fitted with proper safety gear. Campers will receive a safety lesson from ZipTour operators, then they will ride Ray s Lift & Red s Lift to access the ZipTour lines. After completing a Demo
training line, Campers will soar down the mountain on Ray s, Bishop s, Flathead and Outlaw spans (Bearclaw Tour) completing almost 2 miles of high adventure! After Lunch, Campers will get suited up for some Mountain Biking. Campers will be fitted with an appropriate bike and will review fundamental riding skills before riding the beautiful and exhilarating Sundance mountain biking trails. Guides will assign campers to riding groups based on ability and groups will continue through biking skills progression on the Sundance trails. Campers will learn how to handle technical terrain and be exposed to a variety of riding and training styles. Biking session may include a ride on a Sundance chairlift. Level 2 Requirements Due to safety and equipment parameters, Campers must be 50 pounds or more to participate in the ZipTour. No previous zip lining experience is necessary to participate. All Campers must be able to ride a bike well and be comfortable on rocky and loose dirt terrain. Campers are not required to have previous mountain biking experience to participate in the Introductory Camp, but they must be skilled bike riders. Location Campers will check in and out at the Teen Camp Center located near Jake s Lift at the upper parking lot. Teen Camp Leaders & Guides The Teen Adventure Camp is managed by the Sundance Kids Camp Director and facilitated by a Teen Camp staffer, who is experienced in leading a variety of outdoor group adventures. Throughout the day, Campers will learn from experienced guides in small groups, including Rocky Mountain Outfitters horse wranglers, Art Studio artists, ZipTour operators and Teen Camp hiking and biking guides.
