Its coast lies on the Gulf of Guinea in the south and it borders Lake Chad to the northeast. Noted geographical features in Nigeria include the Adamawa highlands, Mambilla Plateau, Jos Plateau, Obudu Plateau, the Niger River, River Benue and Niger Delta. Nigeria is located in the Tropics, where the climate is seasonally damp and very humid. Nigeria is affected by four climate types; these climate types are distinguishable, as one moves from the southern part of Nigeria to the northern part of Nigeria through Nigeria's middle belt with a coast along the Atlantic Ocean on the Gulf of Guinea. Most of Nigeria consists of a low plateau cut by rivers, especially the Niger and its largest tributary, the Benue. The country takes its name from its chief river. The Nigerian capital was changed from Lagos City in 1991 to Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Nigeria is by far the most populous country in Africa with more than oneseventh of the continent s population. The Cooperative sector plays major roles in the economy of Nigeria, with a huge investment opportunity spread across board. The current population of Nigeria is 195,258,110 million. Nigeria s population is equivalent to 2.57% of the total world population. Nigeria ranks number 7 in the list of countries (and dependencies) by population. P a g e - 1

Arrival at the Abuja International Airport: Sunday September 2 nd 2018 is the expected arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja or Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos - Nigeria. Arrival at the Murtala International Airport Lagos: Participants arriving Nigeria via Lagos would need to take domestic flight from Lagos to Abuja at a cost of ranging from N28,000 N42,000 ($80 - $117USD) depending on the airline. We recommend that participants fly Arik air or Air peace from Lagos to Abuja. This will require participants to take airport taxi from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport to the MM1 or MM2 domestic airport, Ikeja. We have organized a transport company to meet/arrange airport taxi for participant arriving through Lagos while shuttle services will be available in Abuja Airport, to pick delegates at the exit of the arrival terminal. Please be on a look-out for our officials or sign stickers ICA Abuja 2018, at the terminal exit for the shuttle cab official to pick you to any hotel accommodation of your choice. To facilitate arrangement for discount, intending participants are expected to indicate in advance their preferred hotels by completing the hotel reservation form in conference Facebook site: (www.facebook.com/ministerial.icanigeria). In case of any delay (late flight or lost luggage), please inform us immediately. There are two ways to get in touch with us: 1. Call or send an SMS, Whatsapp to one of the following help-line mobile numbers: Mr. Bumba Shatami Mr. Bunmi Bakare Mr. Adams Tanko 08125351105 07050507747 09081801575 2. Translating equipment will also be available at all meeting rooms. Currency in Nigeria: The Naira is the currency in use in Nigeria and quite unstable against the US Dollar. Its conversion rate is 1U$D = N360 NG and in case you want to do any conversion. Dollar cash is the most welcome foreign currency at the Airport upon arrival or in any Bank or Forex Bureaus in the city. Check (www.oanda.com/currency/converter). Nigeria s International Dialing Code: The International Dialing Code for Nigeria is +234 followed by the mobile number. Mobile phone service providers have good connections and with valid travel documents, you can purchase a local SIM card. We have four (4) telecommunications companies (Glo, MTN, Airtel and Etisalat). Climatic Condition: Nigeria has a tropical climate with sharp regional variances depending on rainfall. Nigerian seasons are governed by the movement of the inter-tropical discontinuity, a zone where warm, moist air from the Atlantic converges with hot, dry, and often dust-laden air from the Sahara known locally as the harmattan. During the summer, the zone of inter-tropical discontinuity follows the Sun northward. Thus, much of the country experiences a rainy season during summer. As summer wanes, the zone shifts southward, bringing an end to the rainy season. Temperatures are high throughout the year, averaging from 25 to 28 C (77 to 82 F). In the higher elevations of the Jos Plateau, temperatures average 22 C (72 F). Northern Nigeria typically experiences greater temperature extremes than the south. Rainfall varies widely over short distances and from year to year. Most of the country s middle belt Abuja inclusive, where the rainy season starts in April or May and runs through September or October. Average rainfall ranges from 1,000 to 1,500mm (40 to 60in). Within this region, the Jos Plateau receives somewhat more rain, due to its higher elevation.
