1. TAKE PLENTY OF WATER DIRECTIONS TO CHOCOLATE BAR MINE 2. Take the I-15 EAST through VICTORVILLE, CA 3. As you get pass Victorville start looking for the D Street Off-ramp. 4. D Street is the last Exit on the east side of Victorville. 5. You can see the CEMEX Cement Plant on the LEFT. 6. EXIT on D-Street Offramp and go LEFT (North) on D Street 7. Pass The CEMEX Cement Plant (on the RIGHT) and keep going North 8. D -Street becomes ROUTE 66 / National Trails Highway 9. Cross over Bridge 10. Continue north and then curve back East on old Route 66/National Trails 11. Drive through Oro Grande, CA and pass TXI CEMENT PLANT (Approx. 7 miles ) 12. Continue EAST on National Trails Hwy about 17 20 miles 13. You will come to Bryman Road and SEE a Sand and Gravel Plant on the right. ( Its either High-Grade Rock or Service Rock on the sign ) 14. Take a RIGHT (South) on Bryman and pass the main entrance gate into the Sand and Gravel Plant and continue South on the gravel road. 15. Continue South on the Gravel Road about a mile and it will curve to the Right. 16. Begin looking for an old WHITE SILICA Quarry on the LEFT. It will be overgrown but you can see the white silica deposit.
17. Pass this Silica Quarry and keep in on the LEFT. 18. Continue South and it will start to curve back to the West. 19. You will come to a FORK in the road with a nice fork to the LEFT DO NOT GO UP THIS ROAD pass it by and stay to the right. 20. The Road will be less traveled and continue on West and wind around with a curve going back SOUTH ( left ) 21. If you are on the right road you will see TWO ( 2) Steel Posts on either side of the road with an old cable lying next to them. 22. Continue SOUTH through the gate and follow the road up the hill and start looking to the right. YOU WILL SEE THE CHOCOLATE BAR / BRANCH MINE OPENING ( ADIT ) 23. Stay on the Road and Pull up to the top of the hill and curve to the right you will be able to park in front of the mine adit on the old tailings dump. 24. The Mine Shaft is horizontal and follows the vein. The remaining gold ore is in the ROOF on the two shoulders. The mine tunnel is stable but look out for loose rock. HAVE A GOOD VISIT!
