Your application has been received and on behalf of the camping school faculty, we are excited to have the opportunity to serve you at Florida National High Adventure Sea Base. An Annual BSA medical examination and health record, completed within the past 12 months, is required and must be completed prior to your arrival. Please bring the completed form with you. If you do not have this required form, you will need to obtain one at your own expense prior to beginning class. Florida Sea Base will not provide offsite transportation so please come Prepared. Plan to arrive on time between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (local time) on Saturday February 13 th. Departure will be after breakfast on Friday, February 19, 2016. All participants who are enrolled in any retraining sections will be able to depart after Noon on February 16, 2016. Complete, correct BSA uniforms are required. The BSA Field Uniform (Scout shorts or long trousers, Scout shirts, Scout socks) or the BSA Activity Uniform (Scout shorts or pants with Scouting golf or t-shirts) will be worn at camping school. Complete field uniform is required for evening meals, worship services, campfires, and other formal activities. (See attached Uniform Inspection Sheet.) Housing will be Dormitory Bunk Style. In addition to the items listed above, please bring an open mind, a cooperative attitude, a willing smile, a lot of enthusiasm, and we ll have a great course. If you prefer to arrive early, you may come in on Friday, February 12, 2016. The early arrival fee is $40, which includes housing, dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday. Your council will be billed if you arrive early so be sure to consult with them. Florida National High Adventure Sea base does not provide transportation to or from local airports. The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base is located on Lower Matecumbe Key, one of the six islands incorporated to form the Village of Islamorada. While the physical address is 73800 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, Florida any local you ask will refer to our location as Mile Marker 73.8, Bayside. Miami International Airport (2 hours away) and Ft. Lauderdale Airport (2.5 hours away) and Key West International Airport (1.5 hours away) are the closet airports to the Florida Sea Base. If you choose to travel from either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, Florida Sea Base will be located on your right side of Lower Matecumbe Key, and if you choose to fly into Key West it will be on the left. Pickups at the Airport can be arranged through KEYS SHUTTLE or FLORIDA KEYS EXPRESS SHUTTLE. Otherwise car rentals are available at each of the 3 listed airports. Please Note: Florida Sea Base does not provide transportation. It is important that you schedule transportation as part of your planning process. If you are renting a vehicle, Florida Sea Base will shuttle drivers to Marathon to drop off and pick up rentals. Checklist for All Participants Welcome to National Camp School! You should arrive between 9:30 and 11:00 am. Please do not arrive late. Below are a few things to do upon arrival: 1. Dress in Field Uniform 2. Check in at the Registration Office 3. Have an interview with your section leader 4. Turn in your BSA Medical Form to your section leader 5. Turn in your resource sheet to your section leader 6. Get your housing assignment from your section leader 7. Pick up your name tag from your section leader 8. Go to the swim area for your swim check (aquatics only) 9. Move into your housing area 10. Park your vehicle at Administration 11.
