President s Report Welcome to the October newsletter 2018 Spring is in the air, more reason to bring those pride and joys out for a run. The club events team has finalized the next few month s events so if you missed the Goolwa run last weekend there is another club run on in November, a weekend away to Port Augusta - details in this newsletter. December is our Xmas get together, club poker run and lunch, also details in this newsletter. On the Nationals level the committee is very busy finalizing entrant shirts - thanks to Kathleen and Kevin working their magic on this fantastic design, well done guys. The recent All Ford Day and club Display Day combined was such a success, the thought of repeating this again next year is of high consideration, as in recent years the GT Display Day at Wigley Reserve has had poor attendance with both members and public. Plus there s the cost and hard work involved, not to mention it s the same few people that do all the hard work every year. So with combining it with All Ford Day this would save all these issues, for sure. See you at the next club event. Regards John Walters ( President )

Mr Ed... With the success of All Ford Day fresh in our minds, the Nationals Committee have been keen to press on with finalising as many things as we can, as the Nationals are now only 6 months away. Forms for the purchase of tickets for the Meet and Greet & Presentation Dinner are about to hit the Nationals website www.nafgtc.asn.au/gtnationals/ along with a form for purchase of various items of Merchandise we will be offering for sale. There will be two types of shirt available all Entrants will receive a button-up event style shirt as part of their entry pack, & there will also be a polo style souvenir shirt available for purchase by anyone who wants one, including the public at the Concourse show-n-shine. We hope to have images of these shirts on the website soon. There will also be a number of more traditional small items available for purchase. In finalising the shirt design, we have had to also finalise sponsorship arrangements, so that all logo s can appear on the shirt we are very pleased to have RARE SPARES & MEGUIARS come on board as major sponsors lately. Please check out the website & click on the links to access the websites of all our generous sponsors. We are also continuing to pursue possible motorsport options, & hope to have some positive news soon. A Nationals flyer is also being released containing all sponsor s logo s. Meanwhile, club life goes on, with a very pleasant run to the Goolwa Motor Museum last weekend, & an overnight run to Port Augusta coming up next month (see the flyer inside). Accommodation in PA is fairly limited at the moment with all the construction work going on in the area, so if you re thinking of going, get in quick, as we have a limited number of rooms available. Oh, & there happened to be a bit of a race at a place called Bathurst recently, but we won t talk about that.. Cheers.. Hugh Westphalen Editor Secretary Chairman 2019 Falcon GT Nationals

GOOLWA MOTOR MUSEUM 14 OCTOBER 2018 There s a little private collection of interesting cars at Goolwa, on the south coast near Victor Harbor, which belongs to Michael Finniss, who is now retired from many years in the motor trade, & an interesting involvement in motor racing as well during his earlier years. A group of 7 cars met at what seems to be our often frequented Burnside town hall car park on a very pleasant Sunday morning, & we headed for the hills on our way to Goolwa, via Mt Barker & Strathalbyn. About 1 hour later we arrived at our destination, where we met up with a few locals & another couple of cars that came directly there from Adelaide. Michael entertained us with a few interesting stories & then we set about checking out his collection, which contains quite a few desirable machines. In what seemed like no time at all it was time to head for the Hotel Elliot where were booked for lunch. After the usual socialising & consuming good food it was time to head for home, as the weather turned a bit ugly. Overall, another very nice social day out with good friends..
