The airport experienced positive passenger growth for the 38th consecutive month with respect to the year over year monthly increases. During the first seven months of 2018, RNO served 2,439,763 passengers, an increase of 5.5% when compared to the same period last year. In July 2018, RNO was served by nine airlines providing 1,961 departures to 22 nonstop destinations (23 nonstop destinations if seasonal flights are included). At RNO, total seat capacity decreased 1.2% and flights increased 3.6% when compared to July 2017. RNO, handled 12,233,364 pounds of air cargo in July 2018, an increase of 6.8% when compared to July 2017. During the first seven months of 2018, RNO handled 83,797,125 pounds of air cargo, a decrease of 3.5% when compared to the same period last year. Starting November 16, 2018, Sun Country Airlines will begin nonstop flights between Reno and Portland, Oregon. This flight will operate on Mondays and Fridays on Boeing 737 aircraft. Currently, this route is being served by Alaska Airlines.

In July 2018, Allegiant Air reported a passenger increase of 66.6%, Delta Air Lines was up 9.1%, United Airlines grew 7.0% and JetBlue Airways reported an increase of 2.0% when compared to July 2017. Volaris passenger traffic was down 14.2%, American Airlines was down 7.0% and Alaska Airlines reported a decrease of 4.5% during the same period. Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes American Airlines Starting May 5, 2018, American Airlines increased the number of daily flights between Reno and Dallas from twice a day to three times a day (certain days of week). The airline returned to the twice a day schedule on August 22, 2018. Starting August 21, 2018, American Airlines increased the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from four times a day to five times a day. The airline returns to the four times a day schedule on October 4, 2018. American Airlines will temporarily suspend the nonstop flights between Reno and Chicago O Hare on October 4, 2018. This flight will return in spring 2019. Starting August 23, 2018, American Airlines increased the number of nonstop flights between Reno and Phoenix from four times a day to five times a day on select days of week. The airline returns to the four times a day schedule on November 4, 2018. Delta Air Lines Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Atlanta was temporarily suspended on April 2, 2018. This flight will return on December 21, 2018, for the ski season. Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Minneapolis operated from June 9, 2018, until August 25, 2018, on Saturdays only. This flight will return as a daily service on December 20, 2018, for the winter holidays. Frontier Airlines Frontier Airlines will suspend the nonstop flights between Reno and Austin in November 2018. Frontier Airlines nonstop flight between Reno and Denver operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. JetBlue Airways Starting September 8, 2018, JetBlue Airways will decrease the number of nonstop flight between Reno and New York City from a daily flight to four days a week. This flight will operate on Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. United Airlines United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Chicago O Hare was temporarily suspended on April 1, 2018. This flight returned on June 7, 2018, as a daily service for the summer season and will operate until September 2, 2018. Starting June 7, 2018, United Airlines increased the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from twice a day to three times a day. Southwest Airlines Southwest Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Dallas Love Field was temporarily suspended on August 6, 2018. This flight will return on November 17, 2018, as a Saturday/Sunday service. Southwest Airlines will temporarily suspend the nonstop daily flights between Reno and Chicago Midway on October 3, 2018. This flight is expected to return in spring 2019. Starting November 5, 2018, Southwest Airlines will increase the number of daily flights between Reno and Oakland from twice a day to three times a day on select days of week. Volaris The nonstop flight between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Starting August 20, 2018, Volaris will offer this flight on Mondays and Fridays. The airlines returns to the three times a week schedule in December 2018.
