ACCOMMODATION LISTING - MOUNTAIN PARKS Commercial Accommodation All visitor accommodation in the national parks is inspected by the National Parks Service and maximum daily rates are posted in rooms to inform guests of correct charges. Rates quoted here are the latest available at the time of printing (Jan. 30, 1969) and may be subject to change. Meals are included with American Plan rates (marked A) but most rates are for European plan. To avoid disappointment, it is advisable to write to the establishments concerned in advance for reservations. The Parks staff cannot arrange for reservations. Camping Daily fees at all campgrounds are $1.50 for an unserviced site; $2.00 for a site with electricity; and $2.50 for a site with water, electricity, and sewer connections. Campsites are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservations can be made. At most campgrounds, there is a limit on stay, usually of two weeks. No camping is allowed in the National Parks except at campgrounds unless permission and the necessary camping and fire permits are obtained from a park warden. Camping in picnic areas or along the sides of highways and roads is not permitted. Group camping sites are provided in some parks at a rate of 25 cents daily per head. Organized groups wishing to use these should write to the Superintendent to make a reservation. These sites may be used only by organized groups, such as Boy Scouts or Girl Guides, led by a qualified and responsible person. The normal camping season in the National Parks is from late May to October but the camping season is shorter in campgrounds located in the mountains. All electrical services in campgrounds are 60 cycle and nearly all campgrounds offer free firewood. Trailer areas are designed for trailers and camping vehicle equipped to use the services provided and tenters and other campers who do not need these services should use the other campsites i.e., which are equipped with picnic tables and barbecue grills for cooking over a wood fire. To prevent damage to the campgrounds and campers' property, wood fires are permitted only in stoves, grills, and fireplaces especially established for this purpose. Information on camping techniques is provided in the booklet "Family Camping" available at 75 cents at park information offices or by mail from the Queen's Printer, Ottawa. Picnic Areas Many picnic areas are provided free at selected locations usually convenient to park roads. Tables, fireplaces and drinking water are available at most of these. Camping is not permitted in picnic areas. MOUNT REVELSTOKE NATIONAL PARK Revelstoke, British Columbia There is no accommodation in this park.
