The Soul of the Rockies September 017 Town Manager s Musings It s hard to believe but here we are already in September and notably during the second week of September the leaves changed colors dramatically in just several days. It s beautiful to watch. College and Pro football are back in action and the cooler temperatures herald that winter will soon be here. Nonetheless, let s hope we get to enjoy some good weather for awhile longer, especially so we can make more progress on wrapping up Phase 1 of our Streetscape Project. Our 018 Town budget planning is underway and the next budget workshop with the Town Board will be Monday, September 18, 017 from pm until approximately 6pm at Town Hall. Our sales tax is up 11.9% in 017 and we are on track for our 4th consecutive year in surpassing the million dollar mark in annual sales tax revenue. We want to remind you that we still have an opening on the Planning Commission and we ask any interested residents to contact us at Town Hall at 970-67-3435. It s a great opportunity to learn about what developments and projects are on the horizon in Town. Inside this issue: Planning Commission Vacancy We are celebrating U.S. Constitution Week here in Grand Lake this week and we will have the parade (on Grand Ave.) on Saturday, September 16th at 11:30am followed by the Constitution Festivities with the Americhicks and guest speaker, Michael Cutler in Town Park beginning at 1:30pm. From 10am to 3pm there will be non-profit organization booths with displays in Town Park. The local Rotary will host bingo at 4pm and the celebration will be capped off with a fireworks display over Grand Lake at 8:30pm on Saturday night. Thank you to our visitors, residents, and business owners for enduring our construction work throughout the summer. The project will be wrapping up in the next four to six weeks and I will provide a more complete update in next month s newsletter. That s all for now!
