What could be better than a meandering trip through Vermont s fabled fall scenery? When it s combined with the best of New England s Art Collections. We ll enjoy specially prepared presentations and behind the scenes tours of Grandma Moses paintings at the Bennington Art Museum, tour the Bennington Pottery Studio, the award-winning Clark Art Institute, the famous Shelburne Museum and the celebrated private collection of J. Brooks Buxton. We ll dine in the quintessential New England Inns, such as The Arlington Inn and the famous Shelburne Farm Inn. Shop in Burlington s picturesque Church Street Marketplace and attend a performance at the Flynn Center for Performing Arts. And, of course we ll feast on the beautiful sights both inside and outside of the museums during a small road tour of Vermont during the height of its season!
ITINERARY- DAY 1 Pre-Trip: OCT 1 Meet and Greet at The Dayton Art Institute, 6-8pm eo Bistro at The Dayton Art Institute, 6 to 8 pm Enjoy wine and cheese as we meet with fellow travellers and view our itinerary. DAI Chief Curator Aimee Marcereau Degalan will present Grandma Moses and ArtTrek Trip Coordinator Debra Edwards will review itinerary and meal plans. OCT 15 D unch, Dinner Depart Dayton OH, Arrive in Albany, NY Scenic drive through Hoosick Falls, NY, home of Grandma Moses to Williamstown, MA. unch - Clark Art Institute Visit the award winning Clark Art Institute with docent-led tour of their Impressionist painting collection. The collection is especially rich in French Impressionist and Academic paintings and the work of American artists Winslow Homer, George Inness, and John Singer Sargent. 6 pm Check into the Bennington Hampton Inn. 7 pm Dinner The Arlington Inn. Enjoy a 4-course gourmet meal at this quintessential New England Inn, built circa 1847 and listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Clark Art Institute
ITINERARY- DAY 2 OCT 16 B Breakfast, unch 9:00 am Bennington, VT- The Bennington Museum We ll start the day with a walking tour of Bennington s historic highlights, including, the Bennington Monument, Old First Church, Robert Frost s gravesite and the Covered Bridges. We ll enjoy a docent-led tour of the Bennington Museum, highlighting their famous collection of Grandma Moses paintings and Bennington Pottery. UNCH- Box unch at the Museum with a special curator presentation on Grandma Moses. Our stay in Bennington will then culminate with a visit and tour of the famous Bennington Pottery Studios. 3:30 pm. We ll depart Bennington for Burlington, VT via motor coach and enjoy the wonderful Fall Foliage scenery of October in Vermont. Upon arrival, we ll check into the Hilton Burlington, situated near the picturesque ake Champlain waterfront. Members can explore the Waterfront, shop along Church Street and have dinner on their own.
ITINERARY- DAY 3 & 4 OCT 17 B D Breakfast, unch, Dinner 8:00 am -- Breakfast at the Hilton Burlington 9 am Depart for Shelburne Museum. Visit the exhibits that interest you the most from the extensive collection of Americana and Impressionist paintings. 11:30 We ll regroup for a specially prepared tour of the Webb Gallery, presented by the museum s director, focusing on Grandma Moses paintings and the extensive collection of Impressionists paintings. 12:30 We ll enjoy lunch in the museum s lovely cafe, then head to the nearby Shelburne Brick House for an exclusive tour. The Brick House was once the hunting home of Electra Havemeyer Webb, the founder of the museum and site of Grandma Moses 100th birthday celebration. 3:00 Return to Burlington in time for an hour-long scenic cruise on ake Champlain on the Spirit of Ethan Allen III. 5:30 Walk up the hill to dine at the Italian restaurant, Pascolo s. 7:30 pm Our last evening will conclude with a performance of The Tribe by Nina Raine at The Flynn Center for Performing Arts. OCT 18 B R Brunch, unch, Reception 8:00 am -- Breakfast at the Hilton Burlington 9:30 am-- Depart for the lovely Shelburne Farms Inn, a 1,400 acre farm and retreat on the shores of ake Champlain. The Inn was originally the 19th-century country home of Dr. William Seward and ila Vanderbilt Webb. We ll have time to explore the extensive gardens and farm before our Sunday Brunch in the Marble Room at 12 noon. 1:30 to 3:30 Return to Burlington for a private tour of the J. Brooks Buxton Art Collection, concluding with a reception in Mr. Buxton s home. This collection is not open to the public and is being offered for the exclusive enjoyment of the Dayton Art Institute members.

Trip Eligibility and Terms: Participants must be a member of The Dayton Art Institute and complete all traveler s forms available online at the DAI website prior to 3 weeks prior to departure date. If the trip minimum number of participants is not met, the trip is canceled and the monies paid refunded less the service charge from etix online portal.
