KinVillage Community Centre 5430 10th Ave. Tsawwassen BC V4M 3X8 Tel: 6049430225 Newsletter Editor: Wanda Green www.kinvillage.org Community Centre Newsletter July/August 2018 SUMMER AT HOME When people think of vacation thousands think of our west coast. We are privileged to live here, a fact that is easy to boast. THE CENTRE WILL BE CLOSED Monday, July 2nd Canada Day Monday, August 6th BC Day Monday, September 3rd Labour Day A group of senior citizens were exchanging notes about their ailments. My cataracts are so bad I can hardly see to pour the coffee. I hear you. My arm is so weak I can hardly hold my coffee cup. I can t turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck. My blood pressure pills make me dizzy. I guess that s the price we pay for getting old. Well, it s not all bad. We should be thankful that we can still drive! It isn t important in summer for us to be away, we can enjoy our surroundings, get out in the sun and play. We have majestic mountains, beaches along the sea, country meadows to drive through, forests and gardens to see. City life s not far away for concerts, movies and plays, and lots of tourist attractions to help round out our days. It s great showing off our area when visitors come for a stay. If you re like me, you love to have them, but feel relief when they go on their way! We ve so much to be grateful for here in our Delta by the sea, summer vacations are great at home for Delta s a great place to be. Jean Kay poetrytoinspire.com 1

Community Centre Newsletter July/August 2018 THANK YOU! Thanks to the approximately 50 people that attended the Public Information Meeting on June 12th. We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to participate. Next Steps: We will continue to follow up with Delta regarding the Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment application. We have requested a Delta Council workshop on the application to provide Council with an overview of KinVillage and the reasons for the application. Following the aforementioned meetings, the OCP Amendment application is presented to Council for First and Second reading. Following this there would be a public hearing. Our architects and consultants, along with KinVillage staff, will work on the necessary requirements to submit, by September, KinVillage s proposal for affordable housing in response to BC Housing s RFP.
