Washington DC Unit Region 2 Unit 170 Vol 19 Issue 03 Mar 2018 PRESIDENT S LETTER Rob Sunde Okay fellow WDCU members, it s time to come out of hibernation. The worms are out and the Robins have arrived. A sure sign of Spring. Mother nature can outsmart the groundhog any day. Now I know that most of us tend toward procrastination when it comes time for making camping plans. I, too, have thought of being a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off. However, making your camping plans AND RESERVING YOUR CAMP SITE is not something that should be put off. So again, I am urging all of your to PLEASE make your reservation NOW. The campgrounds will not hold our sites much longer. Gayle and I not being cold weather fans, went to Florida for a week in February. A quarter of that month spent in warm weather is a wonderful thing. Many of you may remember a Jan and Dean song called The Little Old Lady From Pasadena. Well let me tell you, she is alive and well. Our rental car was a brand new (442 miles on it) shiny red Dodge Charger R/T with a Hemi in it. Some of you know that Gayle has a somewhat heavy right foot. Need I say more? We returned the car with almost 1600 miles on it after visiting a number of friends. We watched some stunning sunsets over the Gulf while in St. Pete Beach and from the back deck of a friends house in Key West. For any car lovers in our group, Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda is a must-see venue. Check it out on the internet. The Capitol Kickoff Rally is only about a month away. We are really looking forward to getting our Airstream back out on the road and camping with the best camping group around, the members of the WDCU. I say this with all sincerity, for Gayle and I feel so fortunate to know all of you and can hardly wait to see you again. It is too bad, in a way, that our group is so geographically diverse because it would be fun to get together during the non-camping season, too. I guess that the Winter break gives us more anticipation of the upcoming camping season. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the CKR and the other rallies planned. Respectfully submitted, Rob Sunde Page 1

Join Us / Renew 2018 WBCCI Membership Renewal Information It s time to pay your WBCCI and WDCU dues for 2018; $65.00 for WBCCI and $1.00 for WDCU. The best and easiest way to do this is to go to the WBCCI web site and pay with a credit card: http://wbcci.org/component/rsform/form/12- renew-your-wbcci-membership. If you prefer, you can pay me directly at a rally; cash or checks are both fine. Or, you can mail me a check for $66.00. Life members of WBCCI and Affiliates of WDCU can send their WDCU dues to me, or give them to me at a rally. If you want to be listed in the 2018 WBCCI Directory, dues need to be paid before November 30, 2017. If you have any changes to your Directory information, please note them on your renewal form or notify me. Please note that the WDCU PayPal account we ve used in the past has now been closed. If you have any questions, email me at deborah.bede@gmail.com. See you down the road! Deborah Bede 196 Old Warner Road Bradford NH 03221 Questions, comments and Suggestions: Contact Deborah Bede Deborah.Bede@gmail.com Page 3

WDCU Renewal Information How dues are calculated during the year. WBCCI membership runs for the calendar year, January 1 st through December 31 st. Renewals begin in August of the preceding year, and can continue throughout the membership year. If you want to be listed in the Membership Directory, your renewal must be in the WBCCI office by November 30 th of the preceding year. If you renew after January 1 st, at any time during the year, you will pay the full amount of $65.00 plus $1.00 for WDC Unit dues. But if you renew after July 1 st, you will also need to pay in full for the following year. So if you don t renew for 2017 until July 10, for example, you will pay $132.00 instead of $66.00 and your dues will be paid through 2018. If you don t renew at all in 2017 you can reinstate your membership if you renew in the first half of 2018. It is easiest for everyone if you renew through the WBCCI office, whether by mail or online. If you are an Affiliate member of the WDCU or a Life member of WBCCI, you can pay your Unit dues of $1.00 per year for more than one year at a time if you pay it to the WDCU Membership person, me. So, you can give me $5.00 and it will be good for five years. Regular members of the unit can only pay one year at a time; again, it is easiest if you do this directly to WBCCI when you renew your WBCCI dues. New members dues are prorated if they join later in the year. There is a schedule on the WBCCI web site; after July 1 st new members pay the prorated amount for that year plus the full amount for the following year. One Moore Thing Hello All, OH MAN! We have just been hammered with Noreasta s (that is the correct pronunciation, by the way). We had one that sumped a deluge of rain not quite a week ago. So have you started to heed Rob s message for making your reservations? I received an email from Elaine Clark who is a host for the CKR. She has not heard from anyone. Please, if you are attending, contact her so she will know how many to prepare for 1erclarkbar@gmail.com. We will be going as it is always our first flight out of here with the fun ship! Please submit any newsletter articles for the next newsletter by the end of April 1, 2018. The file you send must be a Word doc. Send to lindamoorenh@comcast.net.
