MARCH/APRIL 2009 REDDING MOOSE FAMILY NEWS PAGE 3 Administrators Message: The lodge is still on the market and with this economy it'll probably be there for quite sometime, hopefully we can survive these trying times. I want to thank the 5% of the membership that contributed to the Governors & Senior Regents message for support. You probably didn't know, but the membership dues you pay to Mooseheart of $54.00 a year goes to them NOT the lodge. Mooseheart takes $28.00, the State Association $3.00 which leaves the lodge $23.00 to pay Taxes, Insurance & Utility bills. There will be (3) Nominating Committee Meeting to select the 2009 and 2010 Board of Officers for Redding Moose Lodge #1006. The offices available are: Governor, Jr. Governor, Prelate, Treasurer and 3 Year Trustee. The meetings will be conducted on March 05, 2009, March 16, 2009 and March 19, 2009 all meetings starting at 6PM. The voting will be on April 02, 2009 during the general meeting. I want to thank Mike Gudzan Jr. for paying to have the walk-in cooler in the kitchen repaired, I also thank Lyle Van Norman for helping with lodge expenditures of Utilities & Food; without their support the lodge would be in financial instability. I want to thank ALL the volunteers & committees that continue to support lodge. Brother Gene Einck is planning a volunteer dinner in appreciation to those that devoted their time to the lodge. Finally, I want to thank the RV Club, Boot Scooters, New Comers and Pinochle Players for the money they've donated to Ways and Means to help pay the lodge property taxes. As noted, a heavy burden by one is born lightly by many. Like I've always stated, you don't know what you have till it's gone. This last year many lodges in the fraternity went belly-up. Pilgrim Chuck Chaidez R.V. Club: Many questions have been asked about the R.V. Club, so I will try to answer some of them as best as I an. In 1984- being a new member of the Lodge I asked at a Lodge meeting if any of the members had a Rig, to my surprise about 30 held their hands up, and after the meeting a group of us got together and discussed how to form the Club. Two of the members Ernie Sequeira and Everett Dennler were going to a Moose Conference back East and came back with the Articles of another RV Club. Sequeira, Dennler, Mac McCarty and Jim Barris revised our own Articles, brought it before the Lodge Board of Officers, who sent it to Mooseheart for approval, At a Lodge meeting it was brought up before the members to form an R V Club, we had 50 members sign up for the first outing. In 1985 we elected our first President Pete Tirpik. Today begins the 25th year of this Club, Charter members who are still with us are Jim & Yvonne Barris, Alma Baily, Pauline Kimbell, Ailsa Cochran & Jim & Arlene Stedman. During these past 24 yrs Barris has kept all records & has written the articles in the Family News, with the exception for a short period Donna Davis took over. As far as I know our Club is the largest RV Club west of the Mississippi and maybe bigger than any Lodge of the LOOM. To all members past & present THANK YOU. Back to the present: New Officers for the coming year are Pres, Mel Jensen, Vice Pres. Jim Sanderson, Past Pres. Bob Lewis, Sec.Donna Davis. & Treas. Bonnie Sanderson. Committees, Sunshine-Mary Mays, Jackets- Howard & Corinne Mann, Badges-George Eberhardt, Memorial Mel Jensen, Moose Rep.-Jim Barris, Pinochle Chairman-Roy Wilkinson, Washerboard Chairman-George Eberhardt & 2010 Outing Chairman-Jim Sanderson. Club meetings Last Tuesday of each Month, Club Dinners 4th Saturday of each Month. The R.V. Club will have a great Spaghetti Dinner on March 24th don't miss out on this. The next outing will be March 11 th 15th Heritage Park = Corning Wagonmasters Ray Rankin & Pat Croff and April 8th - 12th Woodson Bridge, Corning Wagonmasters Jim & Betty Sanderson. The Officers of the Lodge can not THANK the R V Club for all they do for their Lodge, if you want something brought up, put it in a letter or better still, attend a meeting and voice your feelings. This is your Lodge so lets keep alive, treat all with kindness & respect and lets have a great year ahead of us. JIM BARRIS
