REPERTOIRE REPERTOIRE SELECTION This event plans to feature literature for choir and winds, a unique genre that breaks away from the normal orchestral-choral genre. The music will represent great composers like Gustav Holst, Gary Gilroy and Philip Wilby from the University of Leeds, who have composed for unique combinations of voices, wind instruments, and percussion. venue continuing the performance tradition YORK MINSTER The York Minster Cathedral is breathtaking. There has been a church on the site since 627. The York Minster is now Northern Europe s greatest gothic cathedral and boasts the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world. Music has always been at the heart of worship at York Minster. Indeed it is difficult to imagine a cathedral without music. The very acts of singing, playing and hearing connect us to levels and ranges of meaning which go beyond words. The opportunity to perform in this awe inspiring space, as part of the enduring history it represents and with its tradition of fine music is an experience that will leave no musician untouched. 5
