Along quiet tracks and lanes you will be transported back in time visiting the regal Windsor Castle and its majestic hunting ground of Windsor Great Park, as well as two World Heritage Sites - the mysterious Neolithic Stonehenge and the magnificent Roman Baths, before journeying down into Devon and the Poldark country and seascapes of Cornwall! Accommodation Prestige - 4* hotel Country - 3* hotel Itinerary Day 1. We collect you at 8.30 from London at Paddington Station, platform 1, under the clock and take you by bus Windsor, which is about 1 hours drive. We visit Windsor Castle, home to the Queen, and Windsor Great Park, where we will fit you with your bikes and ensure you are ready to cycle on the wrong side of the road! Taking the bus to your hotel on the Kennet and Avon Canal means a nice gentle start to your holiday. 10 miles Day 2. We bike along the wonderful canal route towards the beautifully named Honeystreet, along the side of the canal and on the quiet roads in the surrounding areas. We have coffee alongside the canal at Crofton and lunch in the cafe at Honeystreet before setting off, by support vehicle to the World Heritage Site and monument at Stonehenge which is an undoubted highlight of the tour.
25 miles 28 miles Day 3. After an early start, we head off on the Kennet and Avon canal for a wonderful flat ride, alongside the boats, stopping at the pubs and soaking up the atmosphere past Devizes as the landscape slowly passes by. We pass over the majestic Dundas and Avoncliff aqueducts before finishing the ride for the day in Bath where the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and Jane Austen s house are unmissable. We then bike through newly renovated tunnels and out to the hotel in the Somerset countryside. 25 miles 35 miles Day 4. After a slightly later start we ride in the support vehicle into the heart of Devon and the stunning Dartmoor region, where we bike down the Granite trail, an off-road, traffic free trail which takes us into the heart of the National Park. After a cream tea mid-afternoon we then head to hotel where we stay for the next two nights. 30 miles Day 5. A beautiful flat ride through the trail named after the famous Tarka the Otter, by Henry Williamson. Again off-road the trail winds its way through some stunning countryside and sea-side towns which give the region its unique feel. Paddle in the sea at Instow, eat fish and chips on the beach before heading back to the hotel either biking, or in the support vehicle. 30 miles 60 miles Day 6 We transfer the few miles into Cornwall and ready ourselves for the Camel trail, a 25 mile, off road track through the stunning camel Estuary, past Wadebridge and into the wonderful fishing village and foody hotspot (famous for chef Rick Stein), Padstow for some Cornish retail therapy and a gentle stroll through this acclaimed town. Guests either stay extra nights in Cornwall (which we can arrange for you) or we transport guests to Bodmin Parkway station for pre-booked travel all the way to London
(4.5 hours).
