We head to the Geothermal Blue Lagoon for a relaxing swim in these naturally heated waters, before heading to our hotel. were trying to drag a three-mast ship to land. When daylight broke they turned into stone. En-route back wemay be the opportunity to visit Myrdalsjokull glacier for an optional glacier walking tour, this is strictly subject to weather and road conditions and under the discretion of the guide. On arrival back at Reykjavik we can relax some swimming at a local geothermal heated swimming pool. Day 4 - Golden Circle Over to Thingvellir National Park. Here you can see the theory of plate tectonics in action. This theory holds that the Earth s crust is made up of several plates that float around on a semi-fluid mantel, either crashing into each other or drifting apart. we continue over to the Geysir area, where we will see (Dinner and overnight) Day 2 - Southshore Today we will travel through farmlands of the Southshore and observe the majestic mountains towering over the coast. We will get frequent views of glacier fields and mountains, including the snow-shrouded Hekla, the country s most active volcano and the towering, ice capped strato-volcano Eyjafjallajokull. We will drive through the region where one of the best known Icelandic classical sagas, Njal s Saga, is set. Then we will stop at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and (Breakfast, dinner and overnight) Day 3 - Skaftafell & Jokulsarlon From the hotel we will drive to Skaftafell National Park which contains some of the most precious pearls of this beautiful country. A short distance further the Gullfoss waterfal fills us with awe, where it plunges or cascades in two steps over 70 metres into a narrow canyon. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight) Skogafoss, both tumbling over high rock escarpments. Weather permitting we will visit Dyrholaey, a magnificent rocky headland with sheer cliffs, to the beautifully-located village of Vik.
