Discover Iceland POST-CRUISE VACATION STRETCHER

Thingvellir National Park Iceland is a Nordic island nation that is defined by its dramatic landscape of volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, and lava fields. It is a country of contrasts where fire and ice coexist, where the dark winter s northern lights give way to the summer s midnight sun and where an insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture. Though Reykjavik has its own draws, the area surrounding it boasts an incredible wealth of scenery and activities. While it isn t quite the whole country in microcosm, it comes close. Just a couple of hours outside of the city, you ll suddenly find yourself walking on lava rocks, with one foot on the European continent and the other on the North American continent. Experience the mist of a spectacular waterfall on your face, watch a geyser blow and then later take a dip in water created by that same geothermal activity. The land feels strangely unformed, caught in geological transition. The beauty is pure, raw, otherworldly and exciting! Noted for its vast tundra and immense glaciers, Greenland lies between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans and is considered the biggest island in the world. An autonomous Danish territory, Greenland sits on the North American continent but is geographically part of Europe. Two-thirds of the island extends above the Arctic Circle and most of its landscape is covered by a massive ice cap, second only to Antarctica s in size. Long, deep fjords reach far into both the east and west coasts of Greenland in complex systems, offering magnificent, desolate scenery. Along many parts of the coast, the ice sheet sits on the edge of the coastline and large chunks of glacier will calve and slide into the water and emerge as icebergs. Greenland is really all about the adventure and is a wonder that will take your thirst for adventure to the next level. This is your chance, your time, your experience. Don t miss this amazing opportunity to take your vacation with Olivia to the crescendo of all your vacations! ABOUT YOUR TOURS Thingvellir National Park Geysir Hot Springs Gullfoss Waterfalls Golden Circle Tour (One-Night & Five-Night Packages) After enjoying your final breakfast on board the ship, you will disembark the ship and board your coach for your next adventure to discover the natural wonders that lie just outside of Reykjavik. The Golden Circle is one of the most famous tours in Iceland and includes visits to Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Springs and Gullfoss Waterfalls. Your first stop today is Thingvellir National Park, the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world, founded in the year 930. Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Here, you will literally walk between the continents of Europe and North America. Situated in Thingvellir National Park is the impressive Almannagja gorge. It is one of the park s most impressive and well known features and marks the eastern boundary of the North American Plate. After this, you ll be taken to a natural bakery, the Geothermal Bakery at Laugarvatn Lake. Here you will experience a geothermal bakery first hand and watch as a pot of fresh bread is dug out from the hot black sand, after baking for a full 24 hours. You ll get to taste this amazing Geysir Bread, piping hot, served hot from the ground with some butter an Icelandic delicacy for sure!...continued on next page...

After, enjoying a tasty piece of this famous bread, you ll be taken by your coach to the Geysir geothermal area, with its boiling mud pools and exploding geysers, the most famous of which are Geysir and Strokkur. Geysir no longer erupts but the lively Strokkur is a mighty geyser, erupting every 4-8 minutes and reaching on average 65 feet into the air, and sometimes as high as 131 feet. Skjól Restaurant Friðheimar Farm Friðheimar Farm You ll work up an appetite so your next stop is Skjól Restaurant, halfway between Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall, for a wonderful Icelandic buffet style lunch. The next stop is the powerful Gullfoss (Golden) Waterfall, on the popular rafting river, Hvitá (white) River, which is fed by Iceland s second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. Plummeting 104 feet into the river gorge, Gullfoss offers a spectacular view of the forces and beauty of untouched nature. This is Iceland s most famous waterfall and one of its most beautiful. You can even get close enough to feel the water spray on your face! Our last stop of the day before going back to Reykjavik will be at Friðheimar Farm, where the theme is tomatoes, in many different forms, horticulture and horse breeding. Started in 1995 by Knutur and Helena, who wanted to combine their different areas of expertise horses and horticulture, Friðheimar is now a family affair with their five children all playing an active role in the family business. Here you will get a tour of the greenhouses and grounds before enjoying a taste of the crop! After enjoying a tasty tomato snack, you ll board your coach for the drive back to Reykjavik. Upon arrival to the hotel you will check-in and make your way to your room where your luggage will be waiting for you. You are free to enjoy Reykjavik on your own this evening. Blue Lagoon & Lunch at the Lava Restaurant (One-Night Package Only) Today, after checking out of the hotel, you will bid farewell to Reykjavik as you board your coach for one last adventure to the Blue Lagoon and then on to the Keflavik International Airport. The Blue Lagoon is located approximately 40 minutes from Reykjavik and just 15 minutes from the international airport. Upon arrival to Iceland s most unique and popular attraction, the Blue Lagoon, you will be led up through the Premium

Access line, where you will receive a bathrobe, towel and flip flops, and then escorted into the locker rooms to change into your bathing suit. Once you step out of the locker room, you will admire and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lagoon s surroundings and relax in the warm and welcoming water of the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa The Blue Lagoon s Geothermal Seawater The geothermal water originates 2,000 meters below the earth s surface, where freshwater and seawater combine at extreme temperatures. On its way to the surface, the water picks up silica and minerals and is typically at temperatures between 98 104 degrees F when it emerges. The geothermal water has a unique composition, featuring three active ingredients: silica, algae and minerals. The blue color, where the Blue Lagoon gets its name, comes from the silica and the way it reflects sunlight. During the summer months you may also see a hint of green in the water. This is the result of the algae, which multiplies quickly when exposed to direct sunlight. The Blue Lagoon s geothermal seawater is known for its positive effects on the skin. The algae have anti-aging properties and the silica strengthens the skin. Combined, they aid in clearing your complexion and having healthy-looking skin. Please note that your Premium Access into the Blue Lagoon includes the following: use of a bathrobe and towel, Blue Lagoon flip flops to keep, a Silica Mud Mask, Algae Mask, a drink of your choice, and sparkling wine at the LAVA Restaurant. After your experience in the geothermal spa you will enjoy lunch in the Lava Restaurant at the Blue Lagoon before being transferred to the airport for your return flight. Flight to Ilulissat, Greenland & Guided Iluissat City Walking Tour (Five-Night Package Only) Today after breakfast, you ll get ready for the next chapter in your great journey! You ll meet in the lobby to board your coach to the Reykjavik Airport where you will board your plane for your 3+ hour flight to Ilulissat, Greenland. It is the third largest city in Greenland and is home to almost as many sled-dogs as people! Your guided city walking tour will give you an introduction to Ilulissat and the everyday life as well as the town s history and the culture along with Greenland s history in general. You ll visit the historic part of town, back to the start of the Danish trading station, and the fishermen at the harbor by their trading post Brædtet. Ilimanaq is located only a little over 9 miles from Ilulissat, and your journey from Ilulissat to Ilimanaq is spectacular as you ll pass by the enormous icebergs from Kangia icefjord on the way. The settlement is clustered around the harbor and all the houses overlook Disko Bay Island.
