A small brief.. The Lahesh Cave Trek starts from Galu temple near Dharamsala and passes through the popular camping ground of Triund, the Laka Got, and the Lahesh Caves. McLeodganj to Indrahar Pass trek via Triund is a low to moderate difficulty trek. This trek follows one of the more established trails used by the Gaddi shepherds enroot their summer grazing pastures in the upper Raavi Valley and Lauhal. Whatever difficulty this trek throws your way, the spectacular views more than compensate for it. To the south, there are mesmerizing views of the Indian plains; to the north is the sacred peak of Mani Mahesh Kailash and the snow capped Pir Panjal Range. The near abouts.. Indrahaar Pass Indrahaar Pass is a mountain pass in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. Located at an altitude of 4,342 meters (14,245 ft) above mean sea level, near the tourist town of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, Indrahaar pass forms the border between Kangra and Chamba districts. It is part of a very popular trekking route from Dharamshala. Kangra District Kangra district lies between 31 21 to 32 59 N latitude and 75 47 55 to 77 45 E longitude. It is situated on the southern escarpment of the Himalayas. The entire area of the district is traversed by the varying altitude of the Shivaliks, Dhauladhar and the Himalayas from north-west to south-east. The altitude varies from 500 meters above mean sea level (amsl) to around 5500 meters. It is encapsulated in the north by the districts of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti, in the south by Hamirpur and Una, in the east by Mandi and in the west by Gurdaspur district of Punjab. It was the largest district of the composite Punjab in terms of area till it was transferred from Punjab to Himachal Pradesh on the 1st November, 1966 and had six tehsils namely Nurpur, Kangra, Palampur, Dehragopipur, Hamirpur and Una. Kullu was also a tehsil of Kangra district up to 1962 and Lahaul & Spiti which also formed a part of Kangra was carved out as a separate district in 1960. The trek.. The Lahesh Cave trek is a relatively easy trek starting from McLeodGanj. En route, you will cross through forests of deodar, pine, oak and rhododendrons as well as streams and rivers and wind along thrilling cliff tracks, and also the occasional lake waterfall and glacier.. This trek is a Soft trek and is perfectly fine for starters who are new to trekking & mountain hiking.
The Itinerary Duration: 5 Days/ 5 Nights PRE TREK DAY 1 - ARRIVE AT CHAKKI BANK On arrival at Pathankot the participants will board Winger/Maxx to reach Dharamkot. Check into the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. (MEALS: Lunch, Dinner) ACTUAL TREK PROGRAM DAY 2 TREK TO TRIUND (3020M) 6KMS After breakfast the group will start trek for Triund. It is a steep ascent through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees. Lunch at Triund. On reaching the campsite, check in tented camp on sharing basis. Evening @ leisure. Light snacks and dinner with bonfire at the camp. Triund is situated at the snout of a small glacier which is full of snow from March to June and the snow starts to melt away with the monsoon and during post monsoon there is no snow and you only see the remnants of the glacier. (MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) DAY 3 TREK TO LAHESH CAVE AND BACK (3475M) 8KMS After breakfast, walk further up to Lahesh Cave. On returning, the group will make its way back to base at Dharamkot. Evening is free for rest and leisure. (MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 4 DHARAMKOT The group is free to rove around Dharamkot for the whole day or relax your tiring muscles. The place has many interesting experiences to offer for the avid tourist. (MEALS: Breakfast, Dinner) DAY 5 - RETURN Time to return back to the concrete world. The participants will be dropped to Pathankot to board their respective travelling modes.
