NAMIBIA SAFARIS 4x4 CAMPINGS + HOTELS ADVENTURE 14 DAYS / 13 NIGHTS DESERTS AND NATIONAL PARKS NOVEMBRE 2017 TO OCTOBRE 2018 BASED 2 OR 4 PERSONS UPDATE 19/07/2017 DAY 1 WINDHOEK Londiningi Guest House BB H - Arrival at Windhoek International Airport on flight?????. - Complementary transfer to town H+1 - Briefing with Namikala Safaris representative Pick up your car and drive to your hotel and visit our capital city. Windhoek: As capital of Namibia, Windhoek is the seat of the judicial, legislative and executive arms of government. It is situated at an altitude of about 1 740 m, at the centre of the country, with the Auas Mountains to the south, the Eros Mountains to the northeast and the Khomas Hochland to the west. The population is some 200 000. Windhoek is set in a deeply eroded valley amid hills and mountains which change colour all day long. Windhoek has the main international airport in Namibia. Air, rail and coach services, as well as safaris, depart from here to the rest of the country. The city is situated at the centre of the national network of tarred roads to points north, east, south and west. Remnants of a once pervasive style of architecture, buildings from the German colonial period are prominently situated in Windhoek. Londiningi Guest House If you re looking for something snobbish, continue straight on. Londiningi is the exact opposite. Whether it s because of the place or the hosts, we find ourselves in the lap of comfort and a sincere welcome. As for the setting, the 9 rooms spaced around the sumptuous garden and swimming pool, offer their irreproachable comfort, authentic charm and a permanent attention to detail -terra cotta floor tiles, furniture and fabrics chosen with taste, decoration simple and refined. We find the same generosity in the dining room a personalized and lavish breakfast, or dinner derived from an eclectic mix of French and Namibian cuisine, served on tables daintily decorated. What s more, many of the art objects that adorn this guest house, decidedly unlike others, are for sale without any profit to the establishment in order to help local artists and artisans. On the human side, equally, Londiningi well deserves its name, which means he who protects and shelters a Nguni word (of which Zulu is a dialect).nathalie (French) and Alexander (Namibian) will bend themselves 16 times over in order to satisfy their guests needs, many of whom quickly become friends, as the Golden Book stands to witness (guest comments) filled with many moving testimonies of gratitude. It offers solid comforts such as good hotels, pensions, restaurants and coffee shops selling traditional German cakes and pastries, while the sweep of coastline and desert hinterland offers adventure and relaxation in unspoilt nature. Swakopmund has several excellent restaurants, pubs and discos and a few nightclubs. DAY 11 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (East) - Namutoni Camping - C Gravel + Tarred road: +/- 200 Km = 3h00 Breakfast Drive to the Etosha National Park on a good-tarred road. Discover one of the largest and most famous African parks. This wonderful park will surprise you with the diversity of fauna and flora. The Etosha National Park: The place to go for wildlife is the 22 270 sq. km Etosha National Park with no fewer than 114 species of mammal and 340 species of bird. The park is half the size of Switzerland. Its central feature is a system of saltpans, the largest called Etosha, with dwarf shrubs on the edge and open grassland beyond. Etosha is one of the great game reserves of Africa. The name translates as Great White Place of Dry Water, which describes the barren depression in the heart of the park. The wildlife is typical of the southern savannahs in Africa, with large herds of "plains game" such as springbok, Burchell's zebra, gemsbok and blue wildebeest. Red hartebeest are present in smaller numbers in the grasslands. Giraffe, kudu and eland - the first two plentiful - browse in woods on the edge of the plains. Black-faced impala and Damara dik-dik, both probably found only in Namibia, inhabit the denser woodlands in the east. Damara dik-diks are among the smallest antelope in Africa. All of the big cats are present, with lion seen fairly often, cheetah occasionally and leopard almost never. Some 300 black rhinoceros live in Etosha. A large number for an uncommon species, they form part of a broader population in the north western dry lands, called the "desert group", one of four in Africa selected internationally for conservation. Elephant fluctuate in number between some 750 in the rainy season and 1 500 in the dry season when large herds are drawn to the water holes. A certain amount of migration takes place between Etosha and the Kaokoveld in the northwest - even into the Namib - where elephant move along ephemeral rivers, as well as between Etosha and the wetter Okavango and Caprivi in the northeast.

Namutoni Camping Situated on the Eastern border of the Etosha national Park, it is probably the nicest rest camp in the park. From the centre of the camp, you have a nice view over the park on top of the old German fort. Lighted water hole, swimming pool, restaurant and shop are accessible to all. Optional guided game drive day or night offered from Okaukuejo, operated by NWR. Sorry, No children under 6 years of age accepted for the game drives. Included: Camping only Suggested visits: Game drives with own car in the park or take an optional game drive from the rest camp. Recently, the rest camps also started offering night game drives. DAY 12 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (South) Okaukuejo Camping - C Gravel road: +/- 130 Km = 4h00 visiting Today, you will cross the Etosha National Park to the West, reaching your camping in the afternoon. Okaukuejo Camping Situated on the western side of the park, the Rest Camp offers bungalows, rooms and camping sites with modern comfort. Restaurant, shop and swimming pool are available. This is the only option to sleep INSIDE the park and to have access to lighted waterholes all night through. DAY 13 WATERBERG PLATEAU Waterberg Wilderness Camping- C Tarred road: +/- 230 Km = 3h00 Drive to the South, via Otjiwarongo to discover another very attractive area, on the way back to Windhoek. The Waterberg Plateau. Waterberg (Afrikaans: water mountain) is a massive table mountain east of Otjiwarongo in the northern reaches of central Namibia. It is about 50 km long, up to 16 km wide and rises from the plains of the Omaheke, as this part of the Kalahari is known, to a height of up to 200 metres. This natural barrier often intercepts clouds, causing them to release their moisture. The mountain s upper layer consists of red sandstone which is porous and absorbs rainwater like a sponge. The base, on the other hand, is impermeable rock with a slight gradient from west to east. On the south-eastern slope water therefore escapes along this layer in the form of several springs - even during the dry season from May until September. Hence the mountain s very apt name. Waterberg is famous for the nature reserve established on the plateau in 1972. Waterberg Plateau Park is the home of game such as buffalo, white and black rhino, giraffe as well as eland, roan and sable antelope, and it borders directly on Waterberg Wilderness Nature Reserve where we recommend our clients to overnight.

Waterberg Wilderness Camping (in a high-lying valley) In a sheltered high-lying valley we have set up five spacious camping sites shaded by large trees. Each site boasts barbeque facilities and running water. As Waterberg Wilderness is not linked to the national electricity grid yet, the hot water for your shower is supplied by the donkey (a wood-burning stove) which our staffers feed for you in the morning and afternoon. At the covered bar we sell chilled beverages as well as barbeque meat. For your relaxation there is a large swimming pool with soft spring water. You are also most welcome to join our guided hiking tours to the plateau of Waterberg. If you prefer a more leisurely pace you can head to the nearby lookout point to enjoy the sunset over the vast tranquillity of the Kalahari Optional activities: Waterberg Plateau Hike, Nature Drive, Herero Cultural Tour.
