February President s Message Andy and Jeannine Clary led the tour... and who would have thought our own backyard was home to the largest carnivorous plant nursery in the United States. The touring group met up with the other members at the Community Center in Graton. What a nice turnout for the January tour and Officer Installation Luncheon. Steve Vining and Chris Rich arranged for a pasta feed second to none. Phyllis Welsh, a charter member of REMTC, shared how her family history is tied to that Center. Steve Vining introduced the new and continuing officers during the installation ceremony. A reminder: Annual dues of $30.00 per family were due January 1 st, 2015 and are delinquent February 1 st, 2015. It is never too early to dust-off the old Model T and to take it for a spin. If you have a favorite breakfast or lunch spot why not organize a FLASH tour so everyone else can enjoy the experience as well. February Meeting Discussion Items Flash Tour Ideas Preparation for Safety Check food desired Hosts for Special Events Ideas Cooker Tours, Ladies Tea,Car Shows, etc. Establish a Christmas party committee for 2015 Touring tip: If you cannot see the car in back of you STOP AND WAIT. If the car in front of you is doing their job, they won t leave you. If the people in back of you are lost, YOU didn t look back. Tour before Officers Exchange. Hot coffee & donuts took the chill off the morning Andy & Jeannine led the tour. 3

Jeanine and Andy picked a great destination for the tour. California Carnivores is located in Sebastopol. If you haven t visited, you are in for a treat. Peter D Amato, owner, has been growing carnivorous plants for nearly 40 years and opened California Carnivores nursery in 1989. Co-founder of the Bay Area (California) Carnivorous Plant Society and frequent contributor to the International Carnivorous Plant Society s Carnivorous Plant Newsletter, he has written and lectured on the subject in many magazines and at various gatherings over the years. After the tour, 45 members attended the Officer s Exchange at the Graton Community Center. This venue accommodates a large group and is a complete facility building for events. The charm of Graton together with the history of the 100 year old Center makes for a friendly gathering place. Chris Rich was in charge of food and put together a buffet bar with spaghetti, salad and garlic french bread. Soft drinks were provided as well as coffee on the tables. Pasta King provided the food and is an easy way to put on an event. Officers were installed and thank you s were made to outgoing officers and chairpersons. Steve Vining handed the gavel to Richard Chuck. The rest of the new officers are listed on the back of the front page of this newsletter. Thanks to Jeanne Nelson for taking the pictures for this event. Jeanne does all the work on the history books with wonderful scrap booking skills. Thanks Jeanne for many years of service to the Club. Oh, yea! And, they put on the very popular pancake breakfast every year. Steve and his officers presided over 2 years of REMTC meetings, tours and special events. Thanks to all for volunteering to make our club the success it has been for 25 years. Welcome Rich, Nanette, and all the new officers! 8

Officer s Exchange 2015 Dianna Shimkowski and Chris Rich served lunch at the Graton Hall. Penne pasta with two sauces and Chris even cooked gluten-free penne for those that requested that option. Steve Vining gave thank you gift to officers. George Jones is holding the Handy, Dandy,Andy, low band adjustment tool. Made, of course, by Andy Clary! 9
