A recent study found that people who drank 3 to 5 cups of green tea a day for three months lost 5 percent of their body weight. Life Enrichment The holiday season has finally arrived and we have a full stock of activities to celebrate! This season means different things to different people, but no matter what special event you celebrate, you likely have plenty of fond memories of it. This month we have so much in store for all of you. This year our annual Christmas party will be held the same evening as our annual Holiday Hope Tree Lighting Ceremony. Our Holiday Bazaar will be to pick up a few extra gifts, and our Christmas Light Tours, and lots of Holiday craft classes. Please join us in making this a happy and safe holiday season! Director s Corner Dear Residents, It is that time of year again and my favorite time. A time to share and to remember just how blessed we are. As the holidays approach, many of you have been asking to donate gifts of money to the American House staff. We appreciate your generosity. If you would like, you can donate to the American House Holiday Fund. Please bring your donation to the front office and place in our donation gift box. It s wrapped and ready for you! We ask that you do not hand any monetary gifts to our staff. The contribution will be equally divided between the American House hourly staff. It would be greatly appreciated if it s done by Friday, Dec. 16. We also have our Annual Holiday Hope Tree Lighting on the 21st of the month. This is immediately following our annual Holiday party, where we may give to those seniors in the tristate area who do not have the same fortune as we do. 6 Christmas Light Tours It s that time again! The holiday season evenings are filled with bright beautiful colors and holiday decorations. There will be several chances for you to partake in, such as the Light Stroll at Belle Isle on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 5:00 pm A bus tour will be passing through the Wayne County Light fest on Friday, December 14, 2016 at 5:30 pm. Have a joyous holiday! 4th Annual Holiday Bazaar It s that time again! Holiday time is here, and so is our Annual Holiday Bazaar. Need to finish your holiday shopping? Stop by our Bazaar on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 1:30 pm -3:30 pm, in the Veterans Museum. There will be so much to choose from, such as; hats, scarfs, jewelry, handbags, and much more. Free Personal Errand Transportation Service W/ Renee Free transportation is available by appointment only on Thursdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Fridays 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Call (248) 880-9130. Calling at least three days in advance is advised. American House provides free transportation to any destination within a 10-mile radius of our property. The bus driver will call you back to confirm all requests for transportation. Unconfirmed requests may not be honored. Medical and business appointments will be scheduled first. No doctors appointments after 2 p.m. Please utilize scheduled shopping trips whenever possible. You may share a ride to the same destination with other residents. Riders will be given the van driver s phone number to call when ready to return. Van has a wheelchair lift.

Holiday Hope Giving Tree Holiday Hope Giving Tree Each year, American House has a fundraiser to purchase gifts for those less fortunate. The fundraising begins with our annual Christmas party followed by lighting of our Giving Tree on Thursday, Dec. 15th, from 4:30-8:00 p.m., in Main lobby. You will be able to buy a bulb with a specific gift wish printed on it. Enjoy some light refreshments and entertainment. A Warm Investment If your hands and feet tend to get cold, try wearing a fleece vest. It will insulate your body s core, specifically the heart and lungs, and in turn, warm the blood flow to your extremities.
