GETTING TO WESTMINSTER COLLEGE By Car For those using a Satnav, the postcode of Westminster College is CB3 0AA. From the South Travelling north on the M11, take Junction 13 and turn right at the T-junction at the end of the slip road. You are now on Madingley Road (A1303). Continue until you reach a mini-roundabout. Westminster College is through the gates on your left on the mini-roundabout. From the North Travelling south on the A14, take the A14 (Newmarket)/A1307 (Cambridge) exit just before the A14 becomes the M11. Follow signs A1307 Cambridge towards the City centre. You are now on Huntingdon Road. After about 1 mile you come to a major road junction. Turn right at the traffic lights (signed Ring Road and Addenbrookes Hospital ) and follow the one-way system (bearing left and then right) down the hill (into Lady Margaret Road) to a T- junction with traffic lights. Turn left onto Madingley Road. At the mini-roundabout, Westminster College through the gates on the left From the West Travelling east on the A428, take the A1303 signed Cambridge. You are now on Madingley Road. Continue until you reach a mini-roundabout. Westminster College is through the gates on your left at the miniroundabout. From the East Travelling west on the A14, take the B1049 signed Cambridge. You are now on the Histon Road. Continue for approx. 1 mile until you reach the traffic lights. Follow the signs for Ring Road & the Railway Station. Follow the one-way system (bearing left and then right) down the hill (into Lady Margaret Road) to a T-junction with traffic lights. Turn left onto Madingley Road. At the mini-roundabout, Westminster College is through the gates on the left. By Train Cambridge is on the main line from both London King's Cross and Liverpool Street stations. Non-stop from Kings Cross trains take 45 minutes. There are taxi ranks at the train station. The journey to Westminster takes about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. The walk from the train station is about 2 miles (directions below and see map on next page). 1. Go straight ahead out of the station and up Station Road. 2. Turn right into Hills Road. 3. Continue straight ahead for 2 miles, down Hills Road, Regent Street, St Andrew s Street, Sidney Street and then Magdelene Street (it s all one long road!). 4. Turn left onto Northampton Street 5. At the mini-roundabout, Westminster College is through the gates on the left. By Coach Westminster College is a 10-minute walk from the coach station in the centre of town. REGISTRATION & DEPARTURE Registration at Westminster College will be from 12.00-2.00pm on Monday 02 July. When you arrive at Westminster College, enter through the main front entrance; the doors will be open for you and our welcome desk will be straight ahead of you. After registering with a member of our team, residential attendees will be shown to their bedroom and given a quick tour of the college by a member of the Westminster staff. From 12pm tea and coffee will be available in the main dining hall, with a welcome and introduction to the course beginning at 2.00pm. The final course lecture concludes at 1pm on Friday 6 th July. A sack lunch will be provided, and guests are welcome to eat their lunch in the main dining hall at that time, or to take away lunch. All guests are asked to depart Westminster College no later than 2.30pm. ACCOMMODATION If you are staying at Westminster College, room assignments and room keys will be issued on arrival. Towels, linens, arrival toiletries, hair dryer, spare pillows and blankets, and coffee/tea making supplies are provided. We need to ask that you check out of your rooms by 9.30am on the final day. Space will be made available for you to store your luggage during the morning sessions on Friday. Please note that if you are not staying at Westminster College you are responsible for arranging for your own accommodation. MEALS Breakfast is for those staying at Westminster College and is included in the cost of accommodation. It is available from 7.45am - 8.30am. Lunches and evening meals are provided for everyone. Both will be a sit-down meal in Westminster Dining Hall. Please inform us in advance if you will not be attending meals on any day. We have booked a certain number of meals for each day, so if you cannot attend then we may be able to assign this meal to someone else. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Wireless Internet: If you would like wireless internet access for the week, an access code will be issued to you on arrival. There s no need to let us know about this advance. Security/Health and Safety: Residents should familiarise themselves with college rules. Badges: Do please remember to wear your badge each day as it helps Westminster College determine who belongs in the college during the day. They also make it easier to call each other by name.
