Air Extras Shopping Formats Quick Reference O V E R V I E W A growing trend in the travel market is the unbundling of fares which result in airlines offering optional services to travelers for a fee; examples are premium seats, checked baggage and meal fees. Sabre Air Extras provide you with tools to support your customer s request of these services. Air Extras allows you to qualify your shopping request with a secondary action code so that the shopping options include applicable ancillary fees. This applies to the following Sabre system shopping entries/products: WPNI Low Fare Search (formerly known as Bargain Finder Plus) JR formats Air Extras is based on two distinct approaches explained below. T A S K ( U S E T H I S F O R S A B R E F O R M A T S ) F O R M A T You may not know which specific ancillaries or how many of each that your travelers need. In this scenario, you request the fees using the AE qualifier. Your response provides ALL known flight-related fees applicable to the itinerary. Note: The AE format is an optional secondary qualifier. Request low fare search, specify passenger types 1 adult, 1 child 11 years old and request all Air Extras WPNI P1ADT/1C11 AE Display includes applicable Air Extras response displays each service type code where the carrier has filed specific ancillaries and fees. The system does not display service type codes where the carrier has not filed data. Display includes applicable passenger types (ADT/C11 or ALL) and total fee (base and applicable taxes) for each Air Extras response for carrier in option 1. In this example, Air Extras may not apply, have not been filed by the carrier or are unknown. In these circumstances, you request the number of ancillaries and which ancillaries (by ATPCO service type code; see next page) are required. Your response provides the following information for each shopping option as applicable: Total fare (base + tax). Summary of the estimated flight related fees. Summary of the fees plus the total fare. Shopping options (sorted from low to high based on the total fare (base + tax) plus the fees If no quantity specified, the default is 1. S E R V I C E T Y P E C O D E S F O R M A T Air Extras allows you to add subsequent, two-character service type codes to refine the fee information that the system returns. When you use the AE format, the subsequent service type codes are optional When you use the AES format, at least one of the subsequent service type codes is required In the AES format only, you may also add a number following the service type code to indicate the quantity the traveler requires. For example, AES-BG*2 requests the fees for two bags for the traveler/itinerary. If no quantity specified, the default is 1. Service type codes: BG Baggage ML Meal/Beverage SA Pre-reserved Seat Assignments IE In-Flight Entertainment UN Unaccompanied Passengers PT Pets LG Lounge MD Medical GT Ground Transportation The following rules apply to the use of service type codes: When you request a specific number of a particular ancillary, the system assumes that the quantity specified is the total quantity for the group that is traveling. It is not the per passenger quantity. The service type codes that support the specification of a quantity are: BG, ML, PT, IE, GT, LG, and MD. If these groups do not contain a number in the request, the default quantity is 1. The other service type codes (SA and UN) do not accept a number because the system assumes they are applied to all passengers. When using the AES qualifier, the system processing logic returns the lowest applicable filed fee for each service type code (excluding BG) in order to provide an estimate of the potential fee With respect to the Baggage service type code (BG), the fees are applied specifically as filed by the carrier from Bag 1 through Bag 9. For example, if the airline has filed Bag 1 with a charge of $25, and Bag 2 with a charge of $35, the system applies those fees sequentially starting with Bag 1. F R E Q U E N T F L Y E R S T A T U S Frequent Flyer status is an important consideration in the applicability of ancillary fees to the itineraries. However, you may not know the actual frequent flyer status level of the traveler at the time of your Sabre system shopping request. For this reason, the Sabre system has developed a qualifier that allows you to indicate those airlines with which the traveler might have status. The traveler s tier status is presumed to be valid at the time of shopping and is predicated on the understanding that validation of the frequent flyer tier status occurs during the pricing, ticketing, and fulfillment processes. Thus, the estimated fees that are returned in the shopping response might vary from the actual fees charged by the airline if the traveler s airline-validated status is different than self-declared status at the time of the shopping request. The underlying logic relies on the ATPCO OC carrier filings based on the carrier filing the status (level 1 through 9) in the Frequent Flyer field in the fee record. Carriers will use at least one level (and up to nine levels of segmentation) to specify how they will offer the ancillaries based on the status level. In the event that you do not specify the numeric ATPCO value of 1 through 9 along with the two-digit carrier code for the Frequent Flyer status entry, the Sabre system returns an error message. Because each carrier will have unique filing structures using the numeric status, the carrier will need to provide user information to assist in the appropriate application of their frequent flyer status levels. Air Extras Shopping Formats Quick Reference Page 3

Note ATPCO has defined the levels as 1 = highest (or premium) frequent flyer status, and 9 = lowest status. The following example illustrates how three carriers might choose to uniquely use the Frequent Flyer field with the discrete numeric selections for the corresponding bag fee for Bag 1: Carrier Frequent Flyer Status Value XX 9 = All Members Free ZZ 3 = Highly Elite Free 6 = Moderately Elite $10 USD 9 = Low $25 USD XD 1 = VIP Free 2 = Executive Free 3 = Mid Tier $10 USD 4 = Low $20 USD 5 = Member with minimal miles/points $30 USD Example entry: JR.IAH/S-OYLAX12NOV0800/P-1ADT/AES-BG*2/ML/SA/FFS-XX9/ZZ3/XD1 In this example, FFS is the qualifier denoting frequent flyer status, followed by the carrier (XX) and the tier level from which to begin interrogating the frequent flyer records. In this case, the user is requesting to start the search with level 9 for XX, level 3 for carrier ZZ, and level 1 for carrier XD (FFS- XX9/ZZ3/XD1). The maximum number of airlines that you can specify in the Frequent Flyer request is five. W P N I T A S K S You are able to use the AE and AES qualifiers in combination with all current WPNI qualifiers.
