When it rains, it is cozy and dry inside while the drumming of the raindrops overhead soothes the soul. The cooks use fresh ingredients and when in season which they pick from surroundings or source them locally. The guests can enjoy fresh bread baked daily from local grains, home- milled on a 400- year- old watermill. Facilities: THE SALOON - Former horse barn that was turned into a dining area for breakfast as fell as the dance floor for our country dance nights. With its western decor and antiques it make you feel you are on a western movie set. SECRET GARDEN - Open air living room designed to cradle and nourish you, to help you steep quietly in the gentle ebb and flow of the great outdoors. This special place is used for well being activities, as well as lunch spot. In the evening you can relax here with a glass of our organic wine or cold beer, whatever your preference, all the while crickets are providing soothing melody. BUFFALO LODGE.- This 1924. mountain cabin turned dining room features laid back, country style luxury, old- fashioned charm and the rustic flavor of frontier living all superbly blended with casual elegance. Restoration followed traditional construction techniques. It is heated with a big woodstove that is used for cooking, baking and making hot water. Here you can watch the chef prepare your dinner from organic, valley grown and locally produced food.
LOCATION & DIRECTIONS: Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch is situated in a valley at the base of Velebit Mountain, inside Velebit Nature Park, UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve. Driving distances from major cities and tourist sights are approximately: 1 hour from Zadar and Plitice lakes, 2 hours from Zagreb and Split, 3 hours from RIjeka, 5 hours from Dubrovnik and Istria, and 7 hours from Vienna and Venice. Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch is served by Zagreb and Zadar international airports. To reach Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch by car from east, north and south, take A- 1, (major highway that runs north- south), take Perusic exit. At the bottom of the ramp, take left toward Perusic. After 400 meters (1/4 mile), just before the church take right toward Klanac. Drive 12 km. In Klanac, take right toward Donje Pazariste. Drive 10 km. Drive thru Donje Pazariste. You will pass a brewery on your right that makes famous Velebitsko Pivo. Continue for another 3 km. Turn left when you see a yellow sign Velika Plana. Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch is 0.5 km on your left. If you are coming from Adriatic magistral road (Jadranska Magistrala, E65), take the exit for Stirovaca (from June thru October as you can be snowed in at other times). The drive is 53 km long. Go thru Stirovaca and Bakovac. We are located 5 km from Bakovac village. Turn right to Velika Plana and follow the road for 0.5 km. Linden Tree Retreat & Ranch is on the left.
