Child Restraints to Aboriginal Communities across NSW The Centre for Road Safety is all about saving lives and developing practical solutions to reduce death and injury on NSW roads. TfNSW is running a program to distribute child restraints to Aboriginal Communities across NSW. The CTO has agreed to support and co-ordinate this program. Restraints will be distributed for use in Community Transport Aboriginal Vehicles. The Centre for Road Safety will fund this program and includes the provision of : 3 child restraints [1 front facing, 1 rear facing, 1 booster seat] for each vehicle nominated. 1 voucher per staff member to attend an accredited training course on how to fit child restraints in the vehicles and buses. Fitting, training and reporting will be the responsibility of Mobility Engineering who have been engaged by TfNSW

Process overview to participate in this program. Step 1 Identify Aboriginal Transport Development Officers in NSW CTO needs to know certain details as per document entitled ATDO NSW [below]. Step 2 Add to document the name of the Manager of the Community Transport Service Check all details on the ATDO NSW document and update as required. Step 3 Vouchers to be issued by CTO CT Managers to advise the CTO of updated information.

Mobility Engineering Child Restraint Fitting Voucher Program Mobility Engineering will create a list of RMS Restraint fitters in the respective CT areas. The course is entitled Selection & Installation of Child Restraints and is listed on the national training register under course 69800. This course offers the following The knowledge and skills required to select the appropriate child restraint for a child; Set up the restraint correctly for that child; Install it into a vehicles that is fitted with a child restraint anchor point; The course also covers all related legislation including road rules, Australian Standards and legal obligations; All attendees will be provided with a set of bound course notes and a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment in this unit.
