Page2 SCHEDULING WELCOME We would like to take a moment to thank you for volunteering to be at this campout with your scouts. With your help, we hope that this Primitive Survival Camporee will become a Wilderness Experience to last a lifetime. Focusing on some of the most basic skills and understanding of what to do in a Wilderness Survival experience, all while having fun, is our goal in hosting this amazing weekend for you and your scouts. The skills learned during this event will cover many requirements for the Wilderness Survival Merit badge. The organizers will not be able to sign these requirements. It is encouraged for scouts to identify a Wilderness Survival merit badge counselor prior to attending this event. Payment The event will be $15 for all youth and adults participating if paid in full by August 6, 2018. After the price will go to $20 for all youth and adults participating. We encourage troops committee to please consider paying on time, so the camporee committee can better plan with the amount of people attending. The Council s refund policy reads: all requests for refunds of money must use the year round camping request form. At least 30 days prior notice of cancellation is required for refund for money or to change date. If the camp ranger or the Council cancels an activity because of weather conditions, a refund or credit will be issued to the unit. Forms can be provided upon request. CHECK-IN Check-In for this event will be between 5:00-7:00 at the entrance of Little Bear Campsite. Participants are must Check-In with a member of the Camporee Staff and Health Officer. All Participants must have a completed BSA Health Form (Parts A & B) to be turned in to the Health Officer. CAMPSITE SELECTION We expect many participants at this event. During an actual survival situation, people will congregate together, pool resources, and generally cooperate to improve their situation. One goal of this campout is to encourage cooperation between our youth (especially in problem solving). To minimize our impact on the campground, leave some campsites open to the public, as this is a public campground, and to encourage cooperation among our youth, were going to assign campsite to troops. Were feasible we will assign multiple troops to the same campsite. We will ask troops to cooperate during events and that cooperation will go toward their overall score.
Page3 SPL AND Scoutmaster MEETING (CRACKER BARRELL) There will be a SPL and Scoutmaster meeting held on Friday night at 8:00pm at basecamp to pass on important information to your units and answer and questions that you may have. Please make sure your troop s SPL and Scoutmaster is present to this meeting. It is a chance for you to make sure that you have all of the appropriate information that you will need to survive this campout. Units will be collaborating with other units in their campsite. This will be explained at this meeting. Primitive Survival Race This part of the camporee is going to take place on Saturday from 2:30-4:00. CAMPFIRE PROGRAM We ask that all units provide at least one song and/or skit to perform at the campfire program on Saturday evening at 8:30pm. This will be a time to celebrate all of the achievements that you have completed that day. Come ready to sing and join in fellowship with your fellow scouts.
