We will hold the August 3 meeting there starting with the normal 6:30 social. They now serve three different beers from the Weasel Boy Brewery on the river in Zanesville. Choices... choices. A big NSC thanks to Tim Crowley and Sandy Moore for hosting the great Summer Picnic meeting. Burgermeister Tim and Pastry Chef Sandy worked very hard to make sure we all had a great evening which we certainly did. Thanks to Doug and Tina Hoermle for sharing their home at the Annual harbor Hills Golf Outing. Their wine and cheese party on your way to the 7 th tee made me forget how many golf balls I lost getting there and who knows how many strokes. The storms clouds parted just in time for a great evening of golf and friends. The view of the western sky from Doug and Tina s front porch was spectacular. Summer may be zipping right along but there is still plenty to do with your friends in the club. This month we have the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway wine train, dinner, dancing, and generally good time. We finish out the month of August with the Kokosing Canoe Camp and Kayak weekend and special finale at Apple Valley. and speaking of zipping don t forget to join us for that last weekend in September at Camp Kern (no really! that s what it s called) and Caesar Creek. bruce kern, president Newark Ski Club Meeting Where: Buckeye Winery 25 N Third St Newark, OH 43055 When: 6:30 pm Social 7:00 pm Meeting Prez Sez... T HE I N S I DE E DG ET HE I N S I DE Page E DG E4 CHRISTIAN S CHITCHEN Old-Fashioned Cooking Updated for Ease On Friday July 2nd, my parents and I came upon a new group of War Memorials at Oak Ridge Cemetery (home of Lincoln s Tomb) in Springfield, IL. It is an amazing group of memorials for WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. They are worth your time if you are ever in the area. As we complete our most patriotic of months, please take a moment of quiet for those who have sacrificed for everything we hold dear. MY BRAVE YOUNG MEN There are name upon names written on this plaque Of brave young men who never came back. Take a good look as they go marching by I want you to hear their widows and mothers cry. I want you to touch each lonely tear And feel each heartache that will never disappear. Look into the eyes of each wife, mother and dad And touch the small hand of each fatherless child That war has left sad. Oh my friend, never forget as you walk by These brave young men did not die in vain. America will always be the home of the brave America will always be the land of the free. Because of the life of each young man Whose name is written in blood upon me. Rest in peace my brave young men. Glen Genseal A Korean Veteran
