We need to start thinking of the upcoming riding season. First on the list is going over your motorcycle fix and repair any items that need fixing and then cleaning the bike. Our plan is to have a Maintenance Day in May but I recommend that you give your motorcycle some attention before our first scheduled dinner ride which is Wednesday April 7. Just a couple things that I want to try out this season. 1. I would like everyone to enroll in the Levels Program. More information at the Breakfast Gathering. 2. Mileage Game: Beginning of each month you get me your mileage and again at the end of the month. At the Breakfast Gathering we will pick either the highest mileage, lowest mileage, or average mileage person they will receive one FREE breakfast at the gathering. At the Christmas Party we will have prizes for the overall winners. 3. Goldwing Raffle Tickets: We need to sell those tickets!!! At the April May June Breakfast Gatherings we will give one FREE breakfast for the person who sold the most tickets. Tickets and money need to be handed in each month to win. 4. RIDES RIDES RIDES: If you have a ride you want to lead on a Saturday or Sunday please contact me. If you have a ride you think would be great to go on but do not want to lead it call me I might be able to find someone who will lead it. Let s make 2010 a great riding season! Denny & Connie Chapter O - CD 2010 COY Chapter Gathering Information The Chapter O gathering is the 2 nd Saturday of the month. We have breakfast at 9:00 A.M. followed by our meeting. Location: Yellow Jacket Inn 12011 Lake Michigan Drive. Dinner Rides We ride every Wednesday, April through October. We leave from the Allendale High School parking lot, 10760 68 th St. Allendale Mi. at 6:30. November March: Dinner is on the 1 st and 3 rd Wednesday. Location to be announced. We meet at 9 a.m. for breakfast buffet and a short meeting follows. We hope to see you there. Dinners are at varying locations. See the schedule above. This month the scheduled dinners are at the Yellow Jacket (same place as our monthly gathering). We have already had a suggestion for the 2 nd Wednesday. If you would like to have a dinner near you, call and let Denny & Connie or Glenn & Becky know for the last two TBA Dinners of this Winter Season. Dinner TBA (to be announced), these dinners are not official dinners. However we still need to eat and we enjoy each others company, so on the official dinners someone makes a suggestion for the off week. We do not play 50/50 on the off weeks. PROGRESSIVE DINNER, this is a dinner that will start at one home for appetizers, and then we drive to the second home for the main course and then drive to the third home for desserts. We will need you to sign up to bring either a piece of the main course or an appetizer. There will be a sign up at the Gathering and Dinners leading up to the Dinner. Fluorescent/Reflective Safety Vest: High-Viz is the new black 2. White Helmet: A recent study in New Zealand found that riders who wear white helmets were 24% less likely to be involved in a crash. 3. Brightly Colored Jacket show your true colors 4. Strategic Lane Positioning: Know the blind spots position yourself in view 5. Headlight Modulation: Stand out in a crowd boost your frontal visibility 6. Flash Your Taillight: Use your stop lamp to your advantage 7. Reflective Material: Glow in the dark 8. Movement: Use motion to stand out a moving object is more likely to draw another driver s attention 9. Auxiliary Driving Lights: 10. Hand Signals: Add hand signals to your bike s turn signals because traditional hand signals are so rare in traffic, they tend to get noticed by other drivers.
