Gateway 2030: Financial Close On October 1 st, 2018, Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) officially signed the financial closing documents with a consortium of lenders to initiate the Gateway 2030 terminal expansion project. The lenders, along with government officials, and the AAA team were present at the official closing ceremony. AAA CEO Mr. James Fazio thanked all those involved for their confidence and commitment to the airport s redevelopment plans.
Safety & Security Week 2018 Aruba Airport looks back on a successful Safety and Security Week 2018 held from September 24 th through September 28 th, 2018. During the week, several presentations were given by different speakers including special invitees Mr. Michael Hyman, COO of Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) who spoke about Surviving a Hurricane, Mr. Miguel Figueroa of JetBlue Corporate Security who elaborated on last year s FLL active shooter incident and Mrs. Sheryl Stolk who provided a Strength Circuit Training session. Other topics included the Emerging Threat of Drones, Fire Safety at airports, Human Factors, Self-Defense Training, Gateway 2030, Human Smuggling and Trafficking, Apron Management Unit s Roles and Responsibilities. Employees had the opportunity to do a health checkup by Ibisa s Bus di Salud team as well as part of this exciting annual event.
Gateway 2030: Financial Close AAA has finalized the closing of a AWG 495 million ($275M) loan facility to fund the airport s expansion and modernization program. The loan facility is provided by a syndicate of twelve local and international banks and institutional investment organizations, and is made up of a 5-year bridge loan, which will convert to a combination of 10-year and 15-year term loans. The construction of the Gateway 2030 project has already started and roughly AWG. 45 million in work is already underway. The completion of the loan facility will allow the airport to continue into the next phases of the construction work. Financial Closing Ceremony
CONVIASA Inaugural Flight On Friday October 12 th, 2018, Aruba Airport welcomed Conviasa to Aruba with its new service from Valencia, Venezuela. Conviasa s Embraer-190 will fly twice a week on Monday and Friday and has a carrying capacity of 100 seats. Aruba Airport continues to expand its services to provide passengers with more opportunities and connectivity possibilities. CONVIASA Official Ceremony
Breast Cancer Awareness Month La Guardia, New York Service Aruba Airport annually supports Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year is no different. This year Aruba Airport will focus on sharing the importance of self-checkups and being a support to those fighting their battle against breast cancer. The theme is Be the Support. On October 19 th, 2018, Mary Joan Foundation will be giving AAA employees and their daughters a presentation with valuable information and ways to show their support. The same day, is national Wear Pink to Work Day where all employees are encouraged to wear pink and support the strong fighters. Additionally, Aruba Airport has lit up its tower with pink lights; will be volunteering on October 20 th to collect together with Mary Joan Foundation; will be donating to various Cancer foundations; and host a healthy Wear Pink to Work Day competition among the airlines. American Airlines, currently one of Aruba Airport s largest airline partners, announced that they will start operating weekly direct flights to Aruba from New York s La Guardia Airport. The new flight will start on June 8 th, 2019 and bookings can be made as of October 8 th, 2018. American Airlines is currently one of the airlines with the largest market share for Aruba Airport (18%) and this new service will add an additional 160 seats which will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. AAA is grateful for the continued collaboration and partnership with American Airlines for over 45 years.
AAA news Grand Opening Juan Valdez Aruba Airport is excited to share the news on the newly opened second Juan Valdez store located at Gate 2. Juan Valdez is well-known for its Colombian premium coffee across the world and already has hundreds of stores and distribution businesses in more than 22 countries. Aruba Airport opened the first Juan Valdez in December 25, 2016, and due to its success, passengers can now purchase their favorite Colombian coffee before their flight at one of two convenient locations. Juan Valdez offers a variety of different hot drinks, cold drinks, breakfast sandwiches and pastries, perfect for every taste bud.
