DATE: MARCH 17, 2018 TO: FROM: National Camping School Participant Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center 720 FFA FHA Camp Road Covington, GA 30014 Matthew Reineck, Course Director March 17-23, 2018 Welcome to the 2018 National Camping School at FFA-FCCLA Center near Covington, Georgia. Your application has been received and on behalf of the camping school faculty, we eagerly look forward to having you with us at the FFA-FCCLA Camp. If I can be of any assistance as you prepare, do not hesitate to contact me at Matthew.Reineck@Scouting.org. Please label your message FFA NCS in the subject line so I will be sure to address your questions promptly. An annual medical examination and health record, completed within the past 12 months, is required and must be completed prior to your arrival. Please bring the completed form with you. If you do not have this required form, you will be required to obtain one at your own expense prior to beginning class or sent home at your own expense. Cost will likely be a MINIMUM of $100. Please plan to arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (local time) on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Departure will be after breakfast on Friday, March 23. Participants who are enrolled in a Camp Director, Program Director or Ranger retraining section will depart after Noon on Tuesday, March 20. Complete, correct BSA uniforms are required. The BSA Field Uniform (Scout shorts or long trousers, Scout shirts, Venturing shirts, Scout socks) or the BSA Activity Uniform (Scout shorts or pants with Scouting golf or t-shirts) will be worn at camping school. Complete field uniform is required for evening meals, worship services, campfires, and other formal activities. (See attached Uniform Inspection Sheet.) Housing will be bunk rooms with bunk-beds and mattress. Bedding and linens will not be provided. The telephone number at the FFA/FCCLA Center is 770-786-6926 in case of emergency. In addition to the items listed above, please bring an open mind, a cooperative attitude, a willing smile, a lot of enthusiasm, and we ll have a great course. If you are arriving early due to travel arrangements, you may come on Friday, March 16, 2017. The early arrival fee is $55, which includes dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday. Your council will be billed if you arrive early so be sure to consult with them prior to arriving early. This National Camp School does not have the ability for ground transportation from the Atlanta Jackson/Hartsfield airport. Please Plan on making your own travel arrangements. National Supply will have a trading post at National Camping School where you will have an opportunity to purchase limited edition items. From Atlanta (approx. 1 hour plan extra time for rush hour traffic) Take I-20 East towards Augusta. Take Exit 93 (Hazelbrand Road / Highway 142). At the top of exit, turn right onto Highway 142. Proceed 3.3 miles and turn left onto Highway 36. Proceed 9.3 miles until you see the Center sign on the left. Turn left into the driveway and follow FFA Road about 1 mile to the facility. From Augusta (approx. 2 hours) Take I-20 West towards Atlanta. Take Exit 93 (Hazelbrand Road / Highway 142). At the top of exit, turn left onto Highway 142. Proceed approximately 3.3 miles and turn left onto Highway 36. Proceed 9.3 miles until you see the Center sign on the left. Turn left into the driveway and follow FFA Road about 1 mile to the facility. From Macon (approx. 1 hour) Take I-75 North towards Atlanta to Exit 201 (Highway 36). At top of exit, turn right on Highway 36. Follow Hwy 36 through Jackson (you will take a right and a left in Jackson to stay on Hwy 36.) Continue on Hwy 36 approximately 14 miles from Jackson until you see the Center sign on the right (it is approximately ½ mile from the intersection of Hwy 212 and Hwy 36.) Turn right into the driveway and follow FFA Road about 1 mile to the facility. From Athens (approx. 1 hour) Take Highway 78 toward Monroe. Just west of the Monroe exits, take the exit for Highway 138 toward Conyers. Follow Hwy 138 to Walnut Grove. At the traffic light in Walnut Grove, turn left/south on Highway 81. Follow Hwy 81 approximately 5 miles, then turn left on Highway 142. After you cross over Interstate 20, proceed approximately 3.3 miles and turn left onto Highway 36. Proceed on Hwy 36 approximately 9.3 miles until you see the Center sign on the left. Turn left into the driveway and follow FFA Road about 1 mile to the facility. From Loganville and Lawrenceville (approx. 1 hour) Take Highway 20 east through Lawrenceville toward Loganville. Highway 20 will combine with Highway 81. Follow Hwy 81 through Loganville and Walnut Grove. (You will take a left onto Hwy 78 followed by a right at the first traffic light to remain on Hwy 81.) Follow Hwy 81 approximately 5 miles from Walnut Grove, then turn left on Highway 142. After you cross over Interstate 20, proceed approximately 3.3 miles and turn left onto Highway 36. Proceed on Hwy 36 approximately 9.3 miles until you see the Center sign on the left. Turn left into the driveway and follow FFA Road about 1 mile to the facility.

Scout Leader Uniform Inspection Sheet Uniform Inspection. Conduct the uniform inspection with common sense; the basic rule is neatness. 1 Attendance. Presence at inspection merits 15 points. Headgear. Headgear is optional. Boy Scout leaders wear the olive visor cap, campaign hat, or troop-approved headgear. Varsity Scout leaders wear the blaze visor cap. Cub Scout pack leaders wear the olive visor cap. Den leaders wear the same visored cap as the youth they serve. 20 pts. 20 pts. Shirt/Blouse and Neckwear. New long or short sleeves, or official long or short sleeves with appropriate loops on epaulets. Neckwear is optional but must be worn according to specifications in the Insignia Guide. Male Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders wear the long- or short-sleeve uniform or official shirt. Female Cub Scout leaders wear either the official long- or short-sleeve yellow blouse, official long- or short-sleeve shirt, or the official long- or short-sleeve uniform blouse. Female Boy Scout leaders wear the official shirt or official long- or short sleeve uniform blouse. Pants/Shorts. Units have no option to change. Male Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders wear the official pants or the official uniform shorts or pants with no cuffs. Female Cub Scout leaders wear the pants or the official navy blue shorts, skirt, or pants with the yellow blouse, or the official pants or official uniform shorts or pants with the official shirt or blouse. Belt Male leaders wear the official web belt or official leather belt with the buckle of their choice.
