Since 1949, thousands of Cal alumni have enjoyed this iconic, all-inclusive camping experience. Nestled amidst towering pines and the deep blue sky of the Sierra Nevada, the Lair welcomes all to this region of unsurpassed beauty. Our Blue, Gold & Oski The Lair is comprised of three camps: {1} Blue {2} Gold {3} Oski While located adjacent to one another, each camp is fully equipped with its own staff, dining hall, and recreational facilities. Camp Blue & Camp Gold Blue and Gold each accommodate more than 300 campers per session. While Camp Blue is known affectionately for its hillside terrain, Camp Gold features a beautiful mountain meadow and the Lair s softball field. Both Camps Blue and Gold feature extensive sports and athletic tournaments for those in pursuit of a coveted Lair trophy. Camp Oski The smallest of our three camps, Camp Oski is young-family friendly, with less emphasis on sports and competition. This results in a more intimate experience. Camp Oski is also configured differently than Camps Blue and Gold. Cabins at Camp Oski are set in tent circles, creating a true sense of community and camaraderie. At night, parents can relax and unwind around a campfire located just a few yards from their sleeping children. 4 5
The Staff Our exceptional college student staff, many of whom are current Cal students, is the heart and soul of the Lair experience. The staff leads every ounce of the daily programming, including campfire shows, sporting events, lifeguarding, and food service. In addition, they care for your children with the utmost attention and enthusiasm. Your Tent Cabin Campers stay in wooden-platformed and wooden-sided cabins with a snug canvas top. Each cabin is equipped with twin-sized metal frame beds with mattresses (you bring your own bedding), a shelving unit, an electric light, and an electrical outlet. Modern bath and shower buildings are conveniently located just steps from your cabin. Pinecrest Chalet Pinecrest Chalet is a year-round property located just a half-mile from Camp Oski. Also owned and operated by the Cal Alumni Association, the Chalet features furnished cottage and chalet lodging. It is also a great option for those wanting the creature comforts of indoor accommodations yet still desiring a Lair experience. Chalet guests who Extras Our camp stores carry a wide variety of Lair-wear and hats, snacks, sodas, ice cream, and selected art supplies (including clay, tiles, green-ware, and white T-shirts). We also offer an array of rental items, including camp chairs, tables, and EZ-Up tents. Boating, fishing, and swimming are all available at nearby Dining When you hear the bell ring, it s time to take a break from your activities and get to the dining hall. The Lair is excited to announce the return of its dynamic and energizing College Prep Camp for high school juniors and seniors who are planning for college. Daily sessions include the college search, personal statement/essay writing workshops, and the financial aid application process. Students will also enjoy some downtime at the camp pool or on the volleyball court. Our high powered instructors consist of Cal admissions staff, AP English instructors, high school guidance counselors, and current UC students. Mini-Week: June 10 14 and 2nd Week: June 14 21 only Expert educators from the Lawrence Hall of Science will lead hands-on workshops as part of our age group programs that will engage and inspire the inner-scientist in bears of all ages. Important! SUBMIT YOUR RESERVATION REQUEST BEFORE FEBRUARY 28, 2014, especially if you re a new or past camper, or if you want to change tents or weeks. Submitting a booking request before February 28 will maximize your chances of receiving your camping preference. CONFIRMATIONS WILL BE EMAILED IN MID-MARCH. Final payments for all Family Camp and College Prep Camp sessions are due Thursday, May 1, 2014. Final payments for all adult sessions are due by Friday, July 11, 2014. Important 2014 2014 Reservation Dates and Cancellation Information: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28 G Deadline to rebook your tent with priority and/ or to be included in the lottery for a new tent. This deadline applies to both Family Camp AND adult sessions. On March 1, you will lose any priority from camping last summer and open tents will be booked on a first-come, firstserved basis. WEEK OF MARCH 11 G Check your email for confirmation of your Lair booking. FRIDAY, MARCH 21 G Deadline to cancel your booking with no penalties. SATURDAY, MARCH 22 G Penalty of $250 for a cancellation on or after this date. THURSDAY, MAY 1 G Final payment is due for Family Camp sessions only (adult sessions final payment is due July 11). Unpaid reservations are subject to cancellation. The Lair is located in the Stanislaus National Forest under Special Use Permit from the US Forest Service. We do not discriminate based on race, color, creed, sex, religion, age, or nationality. FRIDAY, MAY 2 G Canceling on or after this date incurs a loss of your full deposit. FRIDAY, JULY 11 G Adult session final payments are due. NO refunds will be given within 14 days prior to the start of your camping session, or after you ve camped. This includes cancellations for campers originally booked for a full week who arrive late or leave early, or cancel entirely.
