We meet the late afternoon for a trip briefing and bike setting followed by welcome dinner. DAY: 2 28/10/18 Pattaya RIDE: 126 km +716 m -696 m LODGING: Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel http://www.pattayadiscoverybeach.com MEALS: B / L / Today we start our first ride of the trip and the group can be split into two* teams of riders, with the slower group leaving first to all meet up for lunch. The first section will be on a flat road winding through rice fields along canals and rivers. Local villages and beautiful temples can be seen on the way. Then we continue riding on for our lunch. There will be unavoidable sections on some bigger roads, but they will be short. We cycle directly into Pattaya and we will check in at our hotel on the north end of the city centre, the rest of the evening is free for leisure and dinner at riders own choice of restaurant. * We will split into 2 teams depending on fitness variables if we have sufficient riders
DAY: 3 29/10/18 Laem Mae Phim RIDE: 145 km +1039 m -1028 m LODGING: Centara Q Resort Rayang https://www.centarahotelsresorts.com/centara/crr/ Today the ride is flat, mostly along the coast in an area with mangroves and shrimp farms. We'll pass Rayong and head to our comfortable hotel in Laem Mae Phim. DAY: 4 30/10/18 Trat RIDE: 160 km +972 m -973 m LODGING: Trat City Hotel https://www.tratcityhotel.com/home The journey continues towards the eastern part of Thailand,. We hug the coast for the first part of our day and then ride through mangroves and shrimp farms. We pass the HTMS Prasae Memorial, a former Royal Thai Navy frigate that was decommissioned in 2000 and is now a museum. We cross many rivers via bridges on our way to Trat. In many ways a typical small Thai city, Trat does have a charming old quarter by the river where the streets are lined with century-old wooden houses punctuated by Chinese lanterns, potted trees and the ubiquitous provincial flag. This will be the last overnight in Thailand before arriving in Cambodia.
DAY: 5 31/10/18 Tatai RIDE: 119 km +1011 m -1003 m LODGING: Tatai Resort & Marina http://tatai-hotel.com Today we will prepare for border crossing, but we still have a section of riding to do in Thailand before we arrive at the Cham Yeam border check point. As we say goodbye to Thailand, our Cambodian crew will welcome us and we will continue cycling to Tatai, a short ride from the border. DAY: 6 01/11/18 Kep RIDE: 246 km +1801 m -1803 m LODGING: Le Flamboyant Resort - Kep http://www.leflamboyant-resort.com MEALS: B / L / After breakfast, we start our longest ride of the tour which will take us 250 km to Kep Province in the southwest Cambodia. Kep, a coastal province in southern Cambodia, known for its seafood and tropical islands. The relaxed provincial capital, also known as Krong Kaeb, is a former French colonial resort town with calm water, a promenade and a nearby crab market. Kindly Note: Because today is a huge ride, any rider looking to call it a day can jump on the bus and transfer the remainder of the route. The group can break at Veal Rehn, which is approx. 160km from the starting point. Riders take own dinner at their leisure.
DAY: 7 02/11/18 Pnomh Penh RIDE: 177 km +523 m -524 m LODGING: Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel - Pnomh Penh https://www.frangipanipalacehotel.com/ Today we will enjoy a beautiful ride on overall good tarmac roads as we cycle to Cambodia s busy capital, Phnom Penh. Once considered as the most beautiful city in the orient, the remains of many colonial buildings are still present in the city. Phnom Penh also has several world famous landmarks which mostly relate to Cambodia's turbulent past. We will encounter traffic as we ride into the city. Check in to your hotel, where you will have some time at leisure. Tonight, you will be treated to a delicious Khmer welcome dinner at Romdeng, a lovely charity restaurant where former street children are taught the principles of hospitality. The restaurant is located in a restored colonial building with an atmospheric garden right in the city centre. DAY: 8 03/11/18 Nokor Tep RIDE: 13 km +45 m -51 m LODGING: Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel - Pnomh Penh https://www.frangipanipalacehotel.com/ MEALS: B / / Today we cycle to the Nokor Tep Women's Hospital. It is sometimes customary for groups of local riders to ride with us to the hospital for an emotional welcome, drinks and a tour of the hospital. We will meet the founder and patrons. After the event and visit, we will ride or transfer back to the hotel. Tonight, we ll have a lovely dinner at Foreign Correspondents Club Restaurant. (lunch and dinner not included in the tour cost).
DAY: 9 04/11/18 Svay Rieng RIDE: 128 km +401 m -412 m LODGING: The Tonle Vaiko Hotel http://cambofinder.com/hotel-tonle-vaiko It's time to continue the journey and after breakfast we start cycling to Svay Rieng in the southeast of Cambodia. DAY: 10 05/11/18 Saigon RIDE: 111 km +383 m -381 m LODGING: The Vissai Saigon Hotel http://www.vissaisaigonhotel.vn/en/ MEALS: B / L / Today is our last section of riding in Cambodia as we head to Bavet border where we will say goodbye to our Cambodian team. After the immigration formalities at the border check point (border formalities could take some time, and we should arrive at 10:00) our Vietnam team will be ready to meet and greet you. We will cycle to Moc Bai and further on to Ho Chi Minh city on national road 22. The road is quite flat and as we ride on the main road leading in to Saigon the roads will become more busy the closer we get. We will arrive at the hotel near the airport in the late afternoon. Dinner is at Riders leisure and own choice. DAY: 11 06/11/18 Saigon MEALS: B / / The trip ends today and after after breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
