Although the attached calendar is a schedule of arranged events any weekend can be a social get together. If you see a cruising club boat on the water, take the time to say hello, maybe raft up together, have a few drinks and enjoy each other s company. April 14 to 17 Easter Long Weekend Sydney. Alternate to Colo River Cruise with the KMYC refer David Smith for details 14 April La Perouse has been chosen as the venue for this year s Easter Raft Up. 15 April Morning walks around the highlights of La Perouse followed by a lunch at the Yarra Bay Sailing Club in the Csalt Restaurant at 12 noon. 16 April Morning trip across the bay to the Captain Cook landing place at Kurnell and walk to the Museum. Lunch at any number of restaurants. 17April Cruise home at your leisure. April 25 Anzac Day Raft up at Cattle Duffers for the holiday weekend. Be there by 10.45am on Anzac Day for the traditional remembrance ceremony with flag rising and a BYO barbeque. Remember also to bring along a pocket full of coins for the two-up. Autumn is a great time of the year to be up river, so stay a few days if you can.
April 30 Cruising Club to visit KMYC This year KMYC will be hosting the St George Motor Boat Club Cruising Club at Cottage Point. Details of the day s activities still to be finalised by KMYC. Tentatively, for travel, we will arrange a bus to leave the St George Motor Boat Club around 9.30am and to collect us from Cottage Point for the return trip. The cost of the day will be advised when is KMYC let us know the final arrangements and we know the cost of the bus. A 3 course luncheon is being offered for the day, at $55 per person (final cost TBA), so no cooking for our lovely Mothers and Grandmothers. Booking time is 12.00pm. June 9 Vivid Dinner and Walk Vivid is Sydney's most spectacular outdoor lighting, music and ideas festival, and the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. This is a Friday night travel by rail to Circular Quay, ferry to Darling harbour. Dinner will be at Georges Mediterranean Bar & Grill at 6pm. Returning to The Quay at about 8pm viewing the lights of Sydney Harbour. Walk the Rocks and Quay and enjoy the spectacular light show. August 27 Father s Day St George Motor Boat Club s Bay Breeze Café has been selected for the venue to celebrate Father s Day. Bring your boat if it s not already there (booking at the visitors berth essential) and have a relaxing lunch starting at 12 noon. Select your meal from the extensive delightful menu. Come and enjoy. September 17- St George Motor Boat Club AGM Two Cruising Club members, Ron Hinds and Gary Ridley are up for re-election to the Board at the AGM. Your support by voting to help re-elect Ron and Gary would be appreciated. September 23 - St George Motor Boat Club St George Motor Boat Club Opening of the Boating Season Opening Day. September 30 to 2 - October Long Weekend 30 September We are rafting up at the Moons. Yes, it s the traditional soup night. This will be provided by the Social Committee with a $5 donation to the Cruising Club. 1 October Weather permitting, a Rubber Duck Safari in the morning up to Salt Pan Creek with a walk through the mangrove trail. Don't forget to bring the cheese and champers. We will then return to the raft for a sausage sizzle lunch. 2 October Chill out and travel home at your leisure.
October 7 - Boating Safety and VHF Radio Education Session St George Motor Boat Club is holding a Boating Safety and VHF Radio Education Session in the Sapphire Room at the club from 9.30am to 12.00 noon. This session will be held for all St George Motor Boat Club boating folk, including those in the sub-clubs and those in the Marina berths at the Club. This date has been selected as it is at the start of the Boating Season, which is a good time to review and learn about boating safety and use of VHF radios. November 26 Sunday Lunch Christmas Party This year the Bayblu Restaurant at Blakehurst has been selected to celebrate the festive season for the Cruising Club. Menu and final cost around $55.00 per head to be confirmed. It s BYO wine only. Let s kick off the festive season by wearing something Christmassy. Don t forget there is the usual Ladies and Gents $10.00 gift each to be placed in Santa s bag. January 7 Epiphany Greek Celebrations Yarra Bay A Greek Festival of food stalls craft and music, drive or boat at your leisure. Blessing of the waters at 12.30pm. January 26 - Australia Day 2018 Raft up on anchors in Kogarah Bay mid afternoon (to get the best position) socialise and enjoy the evening fireworks at Carss Park. Please Note: All functions are, of course, subject to the weather. Cruising Club meetings are held in the Sapphire Room at 8:00pm on the first Wednesday of each second month commencing February. Supper will be served after the meetings.
