The Peak or the Victoria Peak is one the most popular attraction in Hong Kong. The Anvil-shaped Peak Tower has a large viewing platform called sky terrace. There are also a number of famous restaurants and brand outlets. From the Tower, visitors can watch the spectacular views of the Central and the Victoria Harbour. It is also the best place to watch the enchanting harbor night view. Visitors can take the famed Peak Tram to reach the top. Riding this historic funicular railway is a memorial experience. When the tram climbing up the hill, one can see skyscrapers erecting at impossible angles sliding past the window. 3
Ocean Park is a major attraction in Hong Kong. The park is located on the south end of Hong Kong Island. The park comprises two themed areas: the waterfront (the lowland) and the summit (the Highland). Visitors can take the cable-car at the Waterfront to ascend to the summit. Viewing from the cable-car, they will have the unparalleled spectacular views of Hong Kong Island and the sublime South China Sea. Victors may also take the Ocean Express from the lowland to the Highland, which gives them an unforgettable ocean adventure experience. 4
Then Aqua City, an all new marine themed area opened up to visitors in early 2011, is located at the Waterfront. The 3-storey Grand Aquarium in this area features various aquatic animals, especially over 5,000 precious fish of 400 species. Visitors can meet with the adorable Giant Pandas On On Kai Kai Ying Ying and Lok Lok as well as red pandas at the Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat. An amazing fountain show is performed every night in the Lagoon district in the Waterfront. 5
A world-class frosty exhibit area and a roller coaster on the Highland add to Ocean Park's fun array of rides and entertainments. The most exciting amusement ride is a rollercoaster called the Dragon which is operated at a breathtakingly speed at 77 km/h. There are also 17 other exhilarating rides. Ocean Theater is the most famous and popular spot in the whole park. It is an open-air theater in which dolphins and sea lions stage a wonderful performance in a huge pond. In the Polar Adventure, you can see different ocean mammal animals like sea lions, penguins, walruses and sea seals. Other attractions in the Ocean Park include the Butterfly House 6 and the Kingdom Garden.
HONG KONG WETLAND PARK Hong Kong Wetland Park is located in the north of Tin Shui Wai, the New Territories. Visitors will encounter over 235 different species of birds, 150 butterflies, 50 dragonflies and the famous salt-water crocodile Pui Pui there. Inside the Wetland Park, there is a Wetland Reserve which gives visitors a good chance to understand the eco environment of the wetland in Hong Kong. Walkways will lead visitors to different facilities such as the Stream Walk, the Mangrove Boardwalk. We can find a fish pond, a mudflat and tree bird hides there. Visitors may take a close look at mudskippers, snails and lively fiddler crabs in the Park. The tree bird hides are great places for watching different kinds of birds inhabiting in the Wetland Reserve. Visitors can keep their eyes open in the Park to enjoy the wide variety of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, amphibians, mammals, reptiles and fish. 7
HONG KONG DISNEYLAND Hong Kong Disneyland is located on Lantau Island just adjacent to the Chek Lap Kok Airport. It s the fifth Disneyland in the world. At the park, visitors meet with Disney characters and enjoy a lot of fun bringing about by the amusement rides. There are 7 themed areas in the park, namely, Fantasy Land, Adventureland, Pirateland, Tomorrowland, Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point. Some attractions attract long queues, wasting the time of visitors in queuing. The management of the Disneyland is aware of the issue and offers the so-called Fastpass for some attractions. This service is available at the attractions including Winnie the Pooh, Space Mountain, Festival of the Lion King, Buzz Lightyear and Mickey s PhilharMagic. The parade of Disney characters and the firework show are performed daily. The parade starts at 3:30pm near the entrance of Storybook Theatre in the Fantasyland. The firework starts at 8:00p.m. above the Sleeping Beauty Castle also in the Fantasyland. For a better viewing place, visitors have to get to the performing venues earlier. 8
LANTAU ISALND -- THE BIG BUDDHA AND NGONG PING 360 CABLE CAR The Big Buddha or Giant Buddha, called as Tian Tan Buddha in Chinese, is situated at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. It is one of the top sightseeing attractions in Hong Kong. The bronze Big Buddha statue is completed in 1993. It s height is 34m (112 ft) and its weight is 250 metric tons. Big Buddha is the second largest outdoor sitting Buddha in the World. The Big Buddha can easily be reached on foot within a few minutes walk from the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car Terminus. 9
SAI KUNG SEAFOOD STREET Sai Kung is located at the eastern part of Kowloon Peninsula. Because of its beautiful hiking trails and beaches, it is also known as Hong Kong s Back Garden. Sai Kung is formerly a fishing village. Local fishermen returned with the catch of a day and sold straight off their boats in the past. Nowadays, there are many famous seafood restaurants which together form a seafood street. Sai Kung is now famous for the vast selection of fresh seafood in restaurants there. The seafood items come from countries extending from Southern Asia (e.g. the Philippines and Thailand) to north America (e.g. Canada). Restaurants charge the seafood by weight with an additional cooking fee. Be sure to check out the prices before ordering! 10
