Adventure Leader Description: Every Furthest Frontiers Expedition trip has English speaking tour leaders. These tour leaders have been selected and trained to lead your group throughout your adventure. They have extensive local knowledge and are there to assist you in your travels and make your experience well beyond just satisfactory. Solo Traveling Solo Sharing: At Furthest Frontiers Expeditions, we offer options for single travelers joining a group. We simply believe that just because you are traveling solo, you should not have to pay more. We have an option we like to call solo sharing. Instead of having to pay more for your own room, we will pair you up with a roommate of the same sex. By doing this, you save paying a single supplemental fee. For single travelers who are not interested in the solo sharing option, we, also, offer comfortable private rooms for an additional price. Please feel free to ask us about room arrangements because we look forward to finding the perfect accommodation for you during your trip. Starting Point Joining Instructions: After arrival at the airport, look for the private driver with the Furthest Frontiers Expeditions sign. He will take you to the starting hotel. If you arrive late, you can arrange a taxi, or call the office. We care about you and your schedule. If you arrive before or after the tour begins, we will do our best to assist you. Be sure to notify the Furthest Frontiers office of any schedule changes that will affect your tour with us. No matter how much you think you need for the tour, always bring a little extra. We would rather you have the extra funds and not need them than need the money and not have it. Emergency Funds In case of unforeseen emergencies, such as a natural disaster we strongly recommend you make an extra $500 available just as a precaution. It is extremely rare for the emergency funds to be needed, but we recommend having them nonetheless. Tipping Tipping is expected in Latin America just as it is in the United States. However, depending on service, 10% is sufficient. For those helping you on your tour, it is a validation of their hard work and service to you. When it comes to your trekking guides and other groups, tipping is recommended. We have provided an average guideline for your group to adhere to if you wish to use it. However, the amount you decide to tip is entirely up to you. Average Tipping Tour Leader: $15 USD per day Local Step on Guides: $8 USD per day Health Medical care is generally good in Lima and usually adequate in major cities but less so elsewhere in Peru. Private, urban health care facilities are often better staffed and equipped than public or rural ones. Public facilities in Cusco are generally inadequate for serious medical conditions. Visitors to popular Andean destinations such as Cusco/Machu Picchu, Arequipa/Colca Canyon or Puno/Lake Titicaca often suffer from altitude-related illness The following diseases are prevalent in some parts of Peru: Dengue Diarrheal disease Malaria Rabies Yellow fever Zika 8
