DAY 1 FUNDU LAGOON PEMBA ISLAND Fundu Lagoon staff will pick you up upon your arrival at the airstrip and take you by boat to the lodge. The airport is on the south side of the island and the lodge on the western side, so you ll have the opportunity to observe the coastline from the boat. Have lunch in the dining area after you arrive and enjoy the views out onto the ocean. The water is clear and sparkling. Each of the suites in the resort is quite luxurious with a separate bedroom, sitting and relaxing area, large bathroom with inside and outside areas, and a private plunge pool. At the main lodge, the large infinity swimming pool is a great place to relax during the day. The Fusion Spa uses specially formulated blends of local spices for massages and other treatments. DAY 2 FUNDU LAGOON PEMBA ISLAND Very few tourists reach Pemba. Fundu Lagoon takes advantage of this by providing a beach environment that is your own private, special place in the world. Fundu Lagoon is absolute luxury with a well-trained and gracious staff. Interestingly, a large percentage of the staff is from the nearby village, trained to five star levels of service. The dive shop at Fundu Lagoon is one of the best on the Swahili Coast. Dive 710 is a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, with master divers overseeing all the dives. Dives off the coast of Pemba take you into some of the world s richest and most pristine coral reefs, stretching for mile upon mile before dropping off to spectacular depths. There is a wide variety of marine life available for viewing. You have the Indian Ocean to yourself. You can also travel by boat for the day to Masali Island to enjoy an uninhabited beach paradise, sharing it only with green and hawksbill turtles. Or, go out on the Cobra Cat boat for some fishing. Fundu Lagoon fishing does not target reef fish (they comply with IGFA guidelines), but there are ample opportunities for fishing in the deep sea.
