ITINERARY DAY 1: USA SPAIN (Thursday, April 18 th ) Fly overnight to Madrid, capital of Spain. DAY 2: MADRID (Friday, April 19 th ) Bienvenidos a España! Your Spanish Forum Tour Manager will greet you at the airport and will remain with your group during your stay in the capital. Transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage. Follow your Tour Manager on a walking tour of Old Madrid. Explore the 16 th - and 17 th -century narrow streets around the famous Plaza Mayor, and the Puerta del Sol, the official center of Spain. Make a stop to enjoy some churros con chocolate. Dinner with your group at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in Madrid at the Hotel Tryp Chamartin (subject to availability) DAY 3: MADRID (Saturday, April 20 th ) After breakfast, meet your local guide and head to the Museo Nacional del Prado. Admire thee masterpieces by El Greco, Goya and Velázquez, including Las Meninas. Head down to the San Miguel Market and visit the tapas stands built into the retaining walls of the plaza. Each tapas stand has its own specialty so everyone will be able to find a new favorite. Then enjoy free time for lunch in one of Madrid s most beautiful parks: El Retiro. Initially intended as a playground for royalty, the 350-acre park is the largest in Madrid. Explore the various sculpture gardens and visit the Crystal Palace. Later, visit the Royal Palace. This immense 18 th -century palace is twice the size of Buckingham Palace and one of the most beautiful in Europe. Take a stroll through the Campo del Moro Gardens and Sabatini Gardens. Enjoy a traditional madrileño dinner at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in Madrid at the Hotel Tryp Chamartin (subject to availability) DAY 4: MADRID SALAMANCA (Sunday, April 21 st ) This morning, say a fond Hasta luego! to your Forum Tour Manager and board your private motor coach to Salamanca. Upon arrival, have a short orientation and meet your host mother Ana Tabernero (subject to availability) and settle into your rooms. (2-3 students per room) Spend this afternoon getting to know Salamanca and your host mother. Dinner and night accommodation with your host.
ITINERARY DAYS 5-9: SPANISH CLASSES AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES (Monday, April 22 nd - Friday, April 26 th ) This morning, start your immersion program classes. You will attend Spanish classes and apply your language skills in real-life situations, and experience life as a true local. Sample of the daily schedule: Breakfast with your host family. Spanish classes (4 hours every morning). Afternoon Activities: Guided city tour, film, scavenger hunt, theater, table games, dancing classes. Dinner with host family. DAY 10: DEPART (Saturday, April 27 th ) Today, say a fond hasta luego to your Spanish host family and transfer by private bus to the Madrid-Barajas Airport for your return flight home. ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS Enrolling for this trip is as easy as going to https://enrollment.forumlanguageexperience.com/immersion/marin-catholic-2019/ The enrollment process will take you about 10-15 minutes. During, you will be asked to provide contact information, a valid passport number, and method of payment. If you do not have a passport yet, don t worry you will still be able to enroll. However, we advise you to apply for your passport as soon you finish enrolling for your trip. Forum Language Experience has purchased the Student Protection Plan from Travel Insured International on behalf of all participants. If you would like to purchase the optional Cancel For Any Reason benefit, you must choose it at the time of enrollment, and the additional fee MUST be included with your first trip deposit. The total cost for this upgrade is $40.50. After you have enrolled and your payment has been made, you will receive an email with a username and password to access your Traveler web account. Here, you will be able to make future payments, modify your personal information, and access documents related to your trip. As a reminder, the enrollment deadline for this trip is September 25th.
