QUEENS WHARF PROGRAMME OVERVIEW Queens Wharf is made up of four main performance spaces Forecourt, The Main Stage, Shed 10 and The Cloud THE MAIN STAGE The Main Stage concerts feature well-known New Zealand bands and musicians on the first four Fridays during RWC 2011 and during the weekends of the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Finals. THE CLOUD The Cloud is the hub of REAL New Zealand Showcase and REAL New Zealand Festival activity, with a full programme of events scheduled for each of the 45 days of the Tournament. Visitors can experience New Zealand s innovation and creativity first hand: the food, wine, fashion, marine, aviation, forestry, seafood and aquaculture, agribusiness and ICT sectors will all hold significant events and activities throughout the Tournament. The Cloud holds almost 6,000 people and will be used for concerts, as a Fanzone during RWC 2011 matches, as an international media and business lounge and for showcasing and hosting large-scale events. TASTE AT THE CLOUD Taste at the Cloud is a journey through New Zealand's exceptional food and beverage. Featuring four food zones: seaside, rural, winery/orchard and urban signature dishes designed by some of New Zealand's top chefs with perfectly matched beverages. Taste at The Cloud runs from 13 September until 23 October. SHED 10 Shed 10 will be a great place to watch the Rugby and enjoy live music and entertainment in a relaxed setting. As well as screening every Rugby World Cup 2011 match live, Shed 10 also offers: Daily match replays (12.30pm 2.30pm): Watch full and unedited replays of the best games of the Tournament Live Music (7.30pm 10.30pm): Shed 10 hosts live music each night of the Tournament, with a range of top covers bands, duos and DJs playing all your favourite popular songs. Contemporary covers bands will play a unique blend of some of today and yester-year s best known songs, from the classics in rock and pop to dance, reggae, rock n roll and all the latest hits. Heineken Experience: Built into Shed 10, the Heineken Experience includes a bar and entertainment offering fresh from the Champions League Finals Festival in Hyde Park, London. Late Nights Fridays & Saturdays: Friday and Saturday nights will feature live music after the games with high energy covers bands playing all the hits. QUEENS WHARF FORECOURT FAMILY WEEKENDS Queens Wharf is open every day throughout Rugby World Cup 2011. Each weekend there s a carnival atmosphere including free family-friendly entertainment during the day and giant screens to watch the Rugby.
NEW ZEALAND ON SCREEN New Zealand On Screen is a showcase of Aotearoa identity as seen on screen. From Billy T to Boy, from Gloss to Goodbye Pork Pie, from Peter Snell to The Piano, Hillary to Hudson and Halls, New Zealand On Screen celebrates screen icons that embody Kiwi spirit and stories. Created using stacked shipping containers, this unique interactive experience will entertain and surprise. ANZ DOME ANZ is creating The ANZ World, a 16m high, purpose built structure located in the heart of Queens Wharf, which will be open to the public every day during the Tournament. Using the latest in technology and entertainment, visitors will be offered a truly unique and engaging interactive experience. GIANT RUGBY BALL The Giant Rugby Ball has gained global exposure for New Zealand as the host of Rugby World Cup 2011, touching down in Paris, London, Tokyo and Sydney. It s finally come home to New Zealand. The Giant Rugby Ball will be open Tuesday to Sunday for the public to enjoy a stunning audio-visual experience of New Zealand, our heritage, landscapes, culture and tourism offerings. DHL DHL, the official logistics partner of RWC 2011, will have an interactive exhibition zone at Queens Wharf. Visitors will be able to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at Rugby World Cup and the DHL zone will engage and challenge fans, with gaming activities and simulated experiences that will appeal to adults and children alike.
